How about a magnet? Like iot could cause Link to go off to a metal target like the hookshot or it could attract far off metal object. Or you could do the reverse Iron boots and alow Link to use it to hang on to the celing. And the dungeon boss could be personified lightnign that will be disrupeted by the magnetic feild.
