I'd have to say the telescope is the most useless item. I never used it other than when I had to, and when I saw that guy gawking over seagulls.

Unless you want to ice skate on any terrain. If you pick up one of those enemies with the long wooden spear-like weapons after hitting them with the ice arrows, then put them down, wait for them to thaw, then pick them back up again, you will act like you're skating on ice, with a rocket propelling you forward.
