But think about it, is that really a hardcore gamer? Honestly, a hardcore gamer is someone that loves games, can see the beauty in them (Yep, that nerdy), play games without judging graphics, gets every system regardless of power (not necessarily, some don't have that kind of money), generally plays any kind of game no matter what as long as it looks interesting, spends most of their time playing games or atleast plays a game once per day, spends their money on games whenever they can. God I hate the "Hardcore gamer", yet I love the Hardcore gamer. BTW OP, how is Nintendo ruining anything for anyone? Go play Halo and get over it.

I suppose there are 2 kinds of hardcore gamers then. The sad Halo/Xbox hardcore games and the "real" hardcore gamer.
Personally, I'm neither of the two, but I consider myself a pretty hardcore Nintendo fan as I try to play most instalments of Zelda... the main installments of Mario and also Metroid too. On the N64 and GC I used to play other games too... more on the N64 though. But yeah, I'm restricted to those games mainly, but I still consider myself hardcore when it comes to a particular few franchises. Sadly enough I see no reason to buy an X360 or Ps3 because it only has a few titles that I'd like to play and I would rather not spend the money on it anyway.
Back in the N64 generation, games were awesome. Funnily enough I enjoyed every single game and luckily enough almost every one of the games I bought were extremely good and fun. These were: Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, OoT, MM, Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, Star Wars Racer, Rayman 2, Super Mario 64 and Buck Bumble and Scars (the last 2 being the first two I got with my N64 and they got really shi* reviews but I still liked them and still do. On top of that, I used to always go to my friends house and played Goldeneye, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Kart and other games. I also had the chance to get Conker bad fur day or Pokemon snap but my bro and I got Pokemon snap because we were more into Pokemon at the time. There was also Super Smash Bros. that my friend used to bring over when he came. There was StarFox, Perfect Dark and a few other really good ones too. Seriously.... that N64 had an awesome line-up and the PS and PS3 are similar (but miss the essense of Nintendo). I'd rather spend money on a Ps2 and ps/ps2 games than a new x360 or ps3. Sadly, games are getting worse and worse by the year... except for a few each year that seem to be getting better. All in all, the amount of quality games for each new console seems to be going down, but luckily every year a few high quality games are produced so thats good.
