If there's one thing that sickens me about anime fandom, its Anime Music Videos. Part of my hatred for them stems from the fact that they make searching for illegal anime on Youtube/Veoh a mess and a chore. And its always the same bloody songs from the same bloody bands. I'll be looking for the final fight scenes to Samurai Champloo, and I'll end up finding the clip but with Faint by Linkin ****ING Park as the bloody background music. Die.
What makes it worse is that the "artists" don't even give a damn about having the music match with the animation. The product ends up being a blight upon both works, and then you'll have your usual Youtube lemmings enouraging them to do
more. That just means more brain rotting material to wade through. *sigh*
Rant aside: Eventually you come across the brilliant ones. The ones that rot your brain, but do it in a tasteful manner. And I guess that's the point of this thread. Have you ever ran across a good AMV? Did you ever think such a thing was possible?
My choices for favorite AMVs are unconventional, you can argue that they're not really AMV's, but that's what I like about them.
First up:
Grand Theft Bebop: Vice City. Creative spaghetti mixes don't get better than this.
Next:
Melancholy of Yuki Nagato: The Mugen Edition.
Another:
Something from Stawberry Panic! This was the most formulaic of the three and I've never seen the anime, but the end product had me believing the song and the anime were made for each other. The timing was awesome, especially for the Harrison solo.
And the Last:
Evangelion Rhapsody. Easy come, easy go: I'm a sucker for sick humor.
