Re: coolest chorus
I'm a big fan of chorus' that have different lyrics each time, but keep the same basic melody and structure. Three that spring immeadiately to mind:
Jimmy Eat World - "Kill"
(chorus 1)
Could it be that everything goes 'round by chance?
Or only one way that it was always meant to be.
You kill me; you always know the perfect thing to say.
I know what I should do, but I just can't walk away.
(chorus 2)
Oh God, please don't tell me this has been in vain.
I need answers for what all the waiting I've done means.
You kill me, you've got some nerve but can't fix your mistakes.
I know what I should do but I just can't turn away.
(chorus 3)
I can't help it, baby, this is who I am.
I'm sorry but I can't just go turn off how I feel.
You kill me, you build me up but just to watch me break.
I know what I should do but I just can't walk away.
Motion City Soundtrack - Broken Heart
(chorus 1)
But I get carried away,
With every day and every fantasy.
The deeper the wound, the harder I swoon
And wish that that was me.
With so much to say, but no words to convey
The loneliness building with each passing day
But I'm getting used to it, you have to get used to it.
(chorus 2)
But I get carried away,
With every page in every magazine.
The cheaper the thrill,
The deeper I fill my head with blasphemy.
With so much to say, but no words to convey
The loneliness building with each passing day
But I'm getting used to it, you have to get used to it.
(chorus 3)
But I get carried away
With every phrase and made-up malady.
The longer I hide,
Behind these lies, the more I disintegrate.
With so much to say, but no words to convey
The loneliness building with each passing day
You never get used to it, you just have to live with it.
Okkervil River - "Black"
(chorus 1)
Don't lose me now, don't lose me now,
Though I know I'm not useful anyhow,
Just let me stick around.
Well, I tell you like before,
You should say his name the way that he said yours,
But you don't want to say his name anymore,
Oh, Cynda Moore.
(chorus 2)
I'd call some black midnight,
**** up his new life where they don't know what he did,
Tell his brand new wife and his second kid.
Though I tell you like before,
You should wreck his life the way that he wrecked yours.
You want no part of his life anymore,
Oh, Cynda Moore.
(chorus 3)
Don't lose me now, let me help you out,
Though I know that I can't help anyhow.
When I watch you I'm proud.
When I tell you twice before,
The you should wreck his life the way that he wrecked yours,
You want no part of his life anymore,
Oh, Cynda Moore.
