She's probably more concerned with getting her mits on the Olympic torch that her own relationships.

I'm actually a little tired of hearing people drone on about their sex lives (or lack of) in songs. As much as I love Alanis, some of her songs can be very self-indulgent, especially when it comes to her relationship songs.

You're right though, and it's not fair of me to comment on songs purely on their lyrical themes. But I will anyway.

You never know, maybe there will be something on the album. When you play it backwards there's some hidden messages in there...

Don't buy Scarlet's album... Her movies suck... Woody Allen is a washed up pervert... Van Wilder is the work of Satan

Which is probably well and good to draw inspiration from to write from, but I'd still like some good old break-up songs.
Yeah, the cover of Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie has the Buddha's five precepts on the front!

That's one of the things that I really enjoy about her music. She seems to be very receptive to her environment and open to new ideas and experiences. As much as her music changes from album to album, so to does her writing, and you can hear all of these new ideas and concepts that she's picked up from her travels.

Jagged Little Pill is a pretty immature album, in that she plays the part of the scorned woman very well, which is really typical of adolescence. Rather than recognise your own faults, it's so much easier to project those insecurities onto other people. But then, with Supposed Former, she comes back as a more self-reflective person, and it's a much darker album for it. There's a lot of pathos in there, and she probably goes too far in smearing her own character, but you get a more balanced view in the later albums.

And on the topic of the new album: I've been listening to the new single, and a couple of other new tracks, pretty much constantly over the past few days.

Hope she goes on a proper tour to promote it.
