Most atheists don't care what you believe. Those are atheists.
I usually don't like to hold to an "ism", as I simply consider myself "Human", but if you must label me in terms of religion then I am an "antitheist". This means I don't follow religion, but further I don't believe anyone else should either. I'm not rabid about it, and I don't carry around huge arsenals of proof, because that would be just as bad as religious people who try to convert you to what they believe by clinging onto something which can POSSIBLY be construed as proof that something in their particular holy book MIGHT have happened. I don't think I need to disprove assertions that are made without proof in the first place. God is a conclusion, to which you're still trying to find facts which lead you there. Science is a method of finding facts, then seeing what these facts tell us to come to a conclusion. If, later, should this conclusion be proven wrong, we find a new one instead of clinging to it and looking for other evidence to support it.
If you say "Oh but God did this, God did that, God did the other in order to prove our faith", I laugh out loud at you. Seriously. I just find it absolutely hilarious that people are, and can still be, religious in this day and age when it is clearly something invented to explain things we couldn't all those years ago. A hypothesis which stood until proven wrong, and unlike most hypotheses which are thrown away once disproved, people still cling onto it because they've forgotten the reason for it. A hypothesis which also doubled as a convenient societal control mechanism.
Why are atheists dead set on proving Christianity wrong? There is only one answer: Because Christianity, like every other religion, IS wrong. Factually and morally. Everything you believe is in the Bible. If you don't follow the Bible, you are wrong in terms of your religion. The Bible, in addition to being contradictory, is wrong, and endorses things that today's society considers wrong. Therefore it is wrong. But this isn't the place to discuss the parts that are right or wrong of religion, as we have a thread on the same page which tackles the same damn topic.
Perhaps my post seems rather volatile, but with the title of the thread being BLATANT trolling, I thought I might as well bite.
Edit: I just notice I've basically just acted out what Homarid says of atheists apart from the "grudge" part, but I stick with what I said because what he pointed out isn't necessarily wrong
