Why even comment if you don't understand the thread?! RTS stands for
Real Time Stratagy. No, it does not have to have anything to do with the future. Look at Age of Empires or Warcraft 3 for an example.
As for your point about story, you're wrong- of course RTS games can have a story! Again, I point to Warcraft 3, as well as Company of Heroes and World in Conflict, each of which have perfectly decent storylines amongst the battles.
Also, a) Zelda have never really been known for its story. Yes, its
good, but nothing special. And b) as already mentioned, an RTS game would let you see the story of Hyrule from a differant perspective. It could help fill in the gaps in Hyrules history as well as show the players areas of the storyline that would not usually be seen in an Adventure game. It would be a nice way to expand the story.
So, yeah, story and time periods are sorted, I shouldn't worry about that
