Re: If you could create the next Zelda game story.....
I do believe that this is what we have the fan fiction forum for. My game idea (heh) is already there. Click the link in my sig if you don't believe me.
Anyway, here's the lowdown:
Link (a citizen of a small forest village) learns that his uncle, who has been missing for eight years, was actually sent on a mission to find the Seven descendants of the Sages, the Seven Maidens. However, his uncle failed in this quest, and the minions of evil have overrun the sacred temples. Soon Hyrule will face a war as terrible as the dark Imprisoning War. Their only hope is to free the Seven Maidens and rally the armies of Hyrule to march against the Dark Ones.
- - On the main fic page it's 'The Legend of Zelda: Revisited" - check it out!
Anyway, I came up with this idea because I feel that Zelda games are losing the 'epic' feel that OoT had as far as storyline, and that's why I'm writing my story. With Four Swords and even Wind Waker, I didn't feel that the storyline had anything to do with the game at all - in fact, the games had more to do with completing tasks one by one until the game is over. I liked OoT because the story drove the game, rather than the game driving the story.
Majora's Mask was my favorite Zelda game in terms of story-game relationship. You could really connect with each of the characters, especially the ones in the Bomber's Notebook, because many of them were instrumental in game completion. However, in Four Swords, there was little character interaction, which was disappointing. And in the Wind Waker, there was more of a storyline, but you could easily have beaten the game without paying mcuh attention to what was going on.
Read my fic to see what kind of storyline I'D like to see in the future.
