Lightbulb An epic Zelda

I've heard before that some Zelda moments are epic. Some of these are the endings of some games like OoT or TP. How many of you actually know what an epic is? An epic must have several conventions that Zelda has some of. Epics are supposed to have media res (starting in the middle of the story). They are to be long narrative poems. They are also supposed to have supernatural intervention, a journey through the underworld, and a hero that exemplifies the virtues of society. Zelda has only a few of those.

Here's what I'm suggesting. Why not have a Zelda that really is an epic? I think that this could make for a cooler story. Think about it. Maybe the game could start in the middle of a was. The gods send Link on a journey to set everything right. This journey requires Link to go through the underworld, which requires courage. At the beginning of the story as well as after each dungeon, a narrator will tell the player the story in a poem.

This idea could make Zelda seem more like it's in the past. The Odyssey and the Divine Comedy are both epics that are very old.

So what do you think? Is this idea too crazy or too good? Either way, I don't think that it's right to call the end of a game like TP epic without knowing what an epic really is.
