How do you make a stroke effect with the pen tool? People have done it, but I don;t know how! Whenever I select the pen tool and try to make a stroke with it, it just fills it in with black stuff. How the... gah do I do this? I've been trying for hours!!

I know this may sound pathetic but... GAH.
