Re: The Big Test: UZ vs. Wisp
(OOC: Awwwwright. Time to get this puppy rollin'. And fwipping is totally a word. 508 words total here.)
UZ awoke on his own around 10:00 the next day, finally feeling rested after all those damn sleepless nights we had been getting the past few weeks. Although Zorlo had been working UZ quite hard for the entirety of his first week at the Dome, UZ had been given Sunday off. Zorlo had explained giving UZ the day off with a vague, “I have a surprise for you come Monday.” Wondering what Zorlo meant, UZ peeked out his door fully expecting his teacher to be standing there with a grin on his face, ready to explain what was going on. Instead, he was greeted with just a note stuck to the door with a small black tack.
UZ –
As I said before, I have a special assignment for you today, this time involving another student here at the dome, her name is Wisp.
Please meet me in Arena 4, the Rock Pit. When you get there, I’ll explain what this whole business is about.
And, per your request, I included a map from your room to the pit.
-Zorlo
UZ couldn’t help but laugh at the map Zorlo had included; it even had a cheesy little “YOU ARE HERE” sticker on the bottom where his room was and a little “YOU’LL BE HERE” sticker where the pit is. It almost looked like the kind of map UZ would draw a student if he was teaching. “Maybe I’m rubbing off on him or something, heh.” UZ quickly rushed back into his room to get ready for his special assignment, grabbing Beatrice, his new, if not slightly odd, sapphire treasure, and a couple rocks he found near his pond. “Just in case,” he mumbled to himself. As he set down the map, he began to wonder about the other student his assignment involved. Wisp was a strange name, he thought, although he may not be one to talk on that subject. “I suppose it’s more conceivable than ‘UZ’, after all.”
UZ’s sharp and indecisive mind began to get the better of him, as he began over thinking this new colleague of his. Wisp, he thought, is normally said to be a sound of the wind fwipping through grass and such. Perhaps Wisp was some sort of wind elemental? Maybe a giant horrifying personified beast of the west wind, come to the planet from the heavens to take her revenge? He chuckled while conjuring up images of giant evil-looking, red eyed wind djinns. “No,” he said to himself, “If she was that horribly powerful, I doubt I’d be working with her. I ain’t that good. Heh.” Looking at his clock, he saw that already he had dawdled for well over 30 minutes just thinking. “Whoop! Better get down to that rock pit place.” UZ raced out his door, going as fast as his hole could take him, to the Arena.
25 minutes later, he raced into the arena’s door, gasping for air and with a frown on his face. “You know, perhaps I should take the map with me, next time.”
