In any case, remakes and sequals are nothing new. Only sequal I've been really excited for in the past couple years was Clerks II. Other than that they usually make good entertainment fodder, but not much else.

Some remakes can be pretty good especially if they are adapted from foreign films so that there isn't already an established Hollywood version, but most of the time they just turn out to be lousy horror remakes.
Agreed. Looking at the list that's been slated, I can tell you right now that most of these movies are going to be absolutely worthless. The only one I think is interesting is the Death Wish remake, which I think could be amazing if the writing is handled properly. Also, The Evil Dead remake could potentially be decent if Raimi is behind the production.

The ones that really make me cringe are The Thing, Escape from New York, The Warriors, Conan the Barbarian, Battle Royale and A Nightmare on Elm Street. All of these films were amazing because of their special effects and subtext, all of which will be sacrificed in lieu of crappy story writing and flashy CGI.

Also, if Michael Bay ever gets his grubby hands on any more classic films, somebody please look up my address on google, buy a gun, put it to my head and PULL THE TRIGGER.
