One of the best last resort methods to getting rid of viruses is booting into linux (ubuntu live CD) and running either avg or f-prot [command line I think]. This course of action is recommended for getting rid of viruses that are capable of crippling antivirus programs or the entire OS, however if there is a simpler method available it should definitely be tried first.
