Re: Weezer
Weezer is my favorite band other than the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I have the Blue Album, Maladroit, and Make Believe, plus a few selected songs from Pinkerton and the Green Album (like El Scorcho and Hash Pipe and Island In The Sun). I absolutely LOVE Weezer. Yes, Make Believe was kinda weak, but what the songs lack in originality, they make up in message (The Other Way should be the National Geek Anthem).
I can honestly say I have never heard a Weezer song that I hate, even though they have a few songs that are weaker than others, such as Only In Dreams, No One Else, Fall Together, Haunt You Every Day, etc. I love their catchy lyrics and their hook-heavy guitar pop. They were originally called "Alternative", but they're essentially power pop now. I don't have a problem with it, though.
Apparently their new album is going to be leaning more toward the Alternative genre, though. Due out in June (originally April, CURSE THEM!), Rivers Cuomo (frontman, of course!) has said that the album will have "longer songs, non-traditional song forms, different people writing and singing, instrument switching, TR-808s, synths, Southern rap, and baroque counterpoint." It's gonna be AWESOME. I can hardly wait!
By the way, my favorite Weezer songs are (get ready, it's a long list): My Name Is Jonas, Surf Wax America, Say It Ain't So, In The Garage, El Scorcho, The Good Life, Island In The Sun, Hash Pipe, Photograph, American Gigolo, Dope Nose, Death And Destruction, Burndt Jamb, Slob, Possibilities, Hold Me, Freak Me Out, We Are All On Drugs, The Other Way, and Perfect Situation. As you can see, I have lots of favorites. I love them so much, that I would have a very hard time choosing just one. In fact, I couldn't.
