Eh, I don't see any indication that you can lose a Triforce piece if defeated by someone. Only if you're killed. And seeing as this story has both Ganondorf and Link alive throughout,that isn't the case.
You'll need a very interesting plot and likely some sort of new magic or item to explain it.
