First Character =D
Name: Nafien De'Voirig
Age: 57
Race: Dark Elf, or Drow
Gender: Male
Hair Color/Style: Long, thick white hair
Eye Color: Grey, as he is blind. (He uses a highly tuned sense of hearing to "see" his oponents, this is also a great weakness.)
Weight: 140 lbs.
Height: 6' 3"
Weapon(s): Nafien uses two weapons, enchanted scimitars passed down from the elders of his clan. His left hand weapon is Combustriel, the Hellkeeper. It has the power to burst into flame on his command. Since the blade itself is composed of fire, the only metal on it is the hilt. This can be a very bad thing to deal with when in situations where fire is not an option, such as underwater combat. His right hand weapon is Sparkszan, also called by Nafien's enemies, (not so fondly) as Heaven's Vengeance. This blade has the power to summon strong electrical currents throughout the sword, thus electricuting everything it touches. As with the Combustriel, it is rendered useless in certain situations. When such an event would take place, Nafien is left only with his wits, and the intense hand-to-hand drow combat abilities he was trained to use since childhood. Both of Nafien's swords are activated by use of an incantation, and can only be used by a dark elf.
Armor: Nafien does not use any armor outside of his greaves, gauntlets, and cloak. It tends to be too cumbersome and inefficient for him, as he is a very agile, acrobatic fighter. This can, at times, be a big disadvantage when fighting large groups of enemies in tight quarters, as it only takes one good hit to kill even the best of warriors.
Strengths: Nafien is less of a brute force type of fighter, and more of a stealthy, quick, silent killer. He avoids confrontation if possible, but can easily hold his own against most fighters. His best trait while fighting is his use of illusionary magic. As a dark elf, he is born with the ability to weild darkness as his own plaything, and he uses this well to his advantage in battle. He is also very acrobatic, able to outrun and outmanuever his opponents if he is left only with the option of retreat. Despite what problems he may face, Nafien is always courageous, and loyal to fellow fighters even in the worst of scenarios. His resolve often brings out courage in others around him, which makes him not only a valued combatant, but a much needed source of moral and mental support.
Weaknesses: As stated before, Nafien's fighting style and choice of armor and weapons produce obvious disadvantages while fighting. Due to the fact that he uses two swords, he cannot rely on a sheild to protect him. He has only his natural agility, which does not do much when in close quarters. He then must use the enviroment around him to manuever and defeat his foe. Also, Nafien is a dark elf, and cannot camoflauge well in highly-lit areas. Although he is blind, Nafien "sees" better than most people due to his acute sense of hearing and smell. No matter how strong his remaining senses may be, he still has a great weakness against flying foes.
Skills/Magic: Nafien uses illusionary magic, meant to trick or distract his opponents while he either launches his own physical attack, or plans out how to defeat the enemy. His spells range from manipulating darkness, to making copies of himself, to disorienting the foe with smoke-and-mirrors type tricks. Over all, Nafien's magic would make for a great magician, but would do nothing more than distract and confuses his opponents, not physically harm them. Although, Nafien does use these skills creatively.
Appearance: Nafien is tall, slender figure, with jet black skin and bright, shocking white hair that contrasts greatly with his skin tone. His cloak is a simple black robe, tighter around his waist by a metal-ring belt. His greaves and gauntlets are made of a black metal, with gold trimming and engraving on them, which look very nice but really have no more effect than protecting his limbs. Although he is in his late fifties, Nafien looks no older than a twenty year old human, due to the extreme longevity of a dark elf's lifespan. His dead, grey eyes stare into nothing at all times, which gives him a nostalgic, almost sad look about him.
Personality: This dark elf is different from most of his people in the fact that he is very resplendant and uplifting most of the time. He does not live to fight, and prefers to live and let live, but when he must fight he does so with a sense of duty and strict moral. His friends in his village often go with him to taverns, as Nafien, although a battle-hardened warrior, is not above a swig or two, especially after a long battle. During combat, Nafien goes from being jovial and almost laid back, to being completely focused on the task at hand. When given an assignment, whether it be an assassination, or guarding a visiting noble on his return trip home, Nafien takes his responsibilities as a soldier and warrior with upmost seriousness. When it comes to matters of women, Nafien is less comfortable, fearing that becoming attached and starting a family would clash with his duties as a fighter, and if he were to marry, he fears he would leave his family behind to go on a mission from which he might not return.
Biography: Nafien was born into the drow clan De'Voirig, which resides in the Darkenwood forest. His father was a soldier, and his father's father, and most every male in his ancestory since the founding of his clan. Because of this fact, Nafien has always felt it was a responsibility to live his life, and eventually die, as a warrior. His clan was attacked when Nafien was very young by an orc battalion that had been sent to "remove them" from the map of Darkenwood. They were most likely in service to another rival drow clan, meant to destroy the village and every dark elf within it. Nafien himself had been hit by a falling timber from a house that had been set ablaze, rendering his eyes useless for the rest of his life. But the village soldiers were able to defend their home, and, although they lost many fighters, the clan survived. Among the fallen warriors was Nafien's father. Coupled with the already heavy burden of his lineage, and the fact that his father died in protecting Nafien and his clan's way of life, Nafien felt he had no choice but to become a warrior.
Nafien trained in many styles of combat, but had always favored the dual blades. In his studies of fighting and during the course of mastering his art, he came into possesion two ancient drow swords. These enchanted blades, Combustriel and Sparkszan, were fabled to have been forged by a blacksmith of the First Clan, the orginal group of dark elves that came from underground to their present home of Darkenwood. As the blades are sacred artifacts of that ancient civilization, only the best fighter of their clan could weild them. Nafien had proved that he could fufill his father's legacy, that he could go beyond it and become more than just another warrior of his line. He was elite. He shouldv'e been satisfied.
But there was something that, since his father's death, had troubled him. Although he had surpassed his father's legend, and become a legend himself, he still had the sense that his role as a fighter and duties as a son and member of his clan would not be truly finished until he had his life ended in battle. It is because of this sense of guilt and sordid duty that Nafien believes he must seek out and challenge the strongest of the strong, warriors whom no other would dare to face. It is also because of this useful, if not self-destructive trait that Nafien was able to become a General in his clan's Warrior Guild. Although he did not blindly challenge impossible odds, Nafien carried the ideal that any enemy, no matter size or power, was weak in some way. And until he found the warrior or creature that he could not beat in some way, he would continue. His legacy would be built the day he is laid to rest.
