Weapons
Illuminatus
Ausiris' main weapon of choice is a spatha, a type of straight sword with a long point. The crossguard is much narrower than that of a longsword, but the pommel is large to balance the large weight. The hilt and pommel are solid gold, the grip is made of ivory, the blade is cast sky steel, and a large bright diamond is embedded inside the hilt. The weapon has a length of one meter. A golden scabbard with intricate designs is strapped to his right side.
Angelus
Ausiris' secondary weapon is a makhaira, a type of sword with a backward curve. It resembles a large knife more than a sword, is about fifty centimetres long in total, and has no crossguard extension. It's curved shape gives it a poor weapon for defence, as it is mostly suitable for slashing rather than exchanging blows. Much like his main weapon, this one also has solid gold hilt and pommel, and an ivory grip. The scabbard is fastened along his lower left leg.
Defensus
Ausiris' main line of defence, this is a large round shield about sixty centimetres in diameter. The shape of the shield is concave, curving towards its wielder. It is clasped to Ausiris' arm using both a leather strap and a handle. The outer surface of the shield is made of solid gold and is adorned with intricate designs. When the shield is not in use it is strapped to his back.
Magnus
Another one of his weapons is a dory, a type of long spear. It consists of an ivory shaft with a golden spearhead roughly leaf-shaped, and a butt-spike to balance the weight on the other side. The weapon is roughly eight feet in length, and can be used both for close combat and as a projectile. Unlike his other weapons this is not on his person, he can summon at will and it will form in his hand from a coalesced light.
Armour
An assortment of wargear in the fashion of ancient Greek/Roman battle suits. See appearance section for more details.
Strengths
The most obvious strength he has is the ability to take to the skies using his large wings. His large build gives him considerable physical strength and makes him a difficult target to overpower. Being an angel he can shrug off minor injuries and recover from more serious ones much faster than a regular human. The holy nature of his magical attacks gives him an edge over demonic and evil beings. He is very strong-willed most of the time and can overcome nearly every obstacle by sheer force of will.
Weaknesses
Ausiris' major weakness is his relience on holy/light sources to rejuvinate his magical energy, so prolonged exposure to darkness can have the effect of severely hindering his magical and healing abilities. Being mostly bulk and muscle, he is not the most agile of combatants. He also has the tendency to get passionate and reckless in battle when angered, which can lead to him rushing into battle before assessing the situation correctly. The nature of his element means he is susceptible to dark and shadow attacks.
Skills/Magic
Heaven's Apothecary
Ausiris can use most sources of light to charge up his angelic aura which is used for all his abilities. Any source of light will do, although sunlight or holy light works best. Fire can also be used as long as it is not demonic or evil in nature. Intense sources of light or concentrated holy energy can boost the strength of his abilities, giving him almost inexhaustible amounts of energy. When this happens his aura coalesces into a swirling veil of golden light around his body.
Ethereal Affinity
Ausiris has the ability to store his armour and weapons as ethereal light within his angelic aura, and can summon them to himself at any moment. When he chooses to summon them, his aura coalesces into golden light around the area the piece of armour would be found, and slowly transforms into the armour itself. In the case of weapons, his aura coalesces around his hands into the shape of the weapon, and the golden light slowly transforms into the weapon. Likewise, when he wishes to store his armour and weapons away, they slowly turn into golden light and then vanish as they merge with his aura.
Enlightenment
This ability causes his angelic aura to glow brightly and emit a piercing golden light which spreads out in all directions. The main use of this is to light up dark areas, but its intensity can be greatly increased to make it blinding. This can become a powerful deterrent against demonic beings since the nature of the light is holy. The greater the intensity of light, the more energy Ausiris expends to maintain it.
Enduring Faith
When using his shield Ausiris has the ability to create a dome of coalesced golden light in the direction of the shield, which can be used to deflect or dilute both magical and elemental attacks. This does not give much added protection against physical attacks however, since solid objects can still penetrate the barrier relatively easily. It consumes large amounts of energy to be maintained however, so Ausiris prefers to evade attacks.
Salvation Pyre
Ausiris can channel his angelic aura to his hands and create orbs of golden light, which can be subsequently launched at enemies as an attack. The strength and size of the orbs depend on the energy used to create them, and they generally take a few seconds to charge, the time needed depending on the strength of the attack. The orbs have concussion effects on impact and the blast covers a large surface area.
Divine Edge
His angelic aura can also be channelled into the diamond embedded in the hilt of his spatha, making the weapon glow with a golden light and increasing the strength of his attacks. If enough energy is stored in the diamond, the weapon can release an intense beam of light in the direction of the blade. The strength of the attack depends on the amount of energy used to charge it. The area of effect is small but the attack is much more powerful.
Judgement Day
This is Ausiris' most powerful attack and can only be achieved when he experiences intense emotions or if a concentrated source of holy energy is available. ( see: Heaven's Apothecary ). He musters all his angelic aura into the attack and dilutes portion of his spirit into energy, until his entire body is glowing with blinding golden light. Preparation of the attack takes large amounts of concentration and quite a few moments to charge. The attack takes the form of an immense, directed explosion of golden light that incinerates most of the things in its path, but leaves Ausiris completely drained of energy.

Personality
Ausiris tries his best to follow a strict code of honour in his everyday life, and as such develops a high opinion of individuals who manage to prove themselves worthy to him, particularly either through their skills as a warrior or by sharing similar beliefs to his. Despite this he still has a major vice which is his pride and arrogance, causing him to show mistrust towards other beings unless they can first prove their worth to him. He shows particular resentment and mistrust especially towards humans, largely considering them as greedy and corrupt beings with no moral values whatsoever.
He is not by nature violent and aggressive, although it is very easy for him to go into angry rampages if provoked enough, at which point he might lose conscious control of his actions. Usually coming off as indifferent and introverted, he is quite happy to be in his own company and losing himself in his own thoughts. Nevertheless he greatly despises acts of evil and will courageously defend the innocent and those in need, often without mercy for the perpetrators if the act is severe enough to enrage him. He harbors intense hate especially towards hellspawn and servants of Satan, considering it his duty to send them back to Hell or eliminate them from existence completely.
Contrary to what first impressions would lead you to believe about him, he does have a more sensitive side where he still is the kind and caring person he once was. In general however he makes a conscious effort to distance himself from positive emotions by supressing them as much as possible, and as a result his sensitive side is very rarely or if ever allowed to surface in the presence of others. Emotions are generally considered a weakness by him and as such he tries to avoid expressing them as much as he can, despite the fact that anger and aggression frequently take the better of him during confrontations.
Appearance
Ausiris is the very image of male classical beauty in terms of his physical appearance. His chest and abdomen are sculpted and well-defined, his shoulders are broad and powerful, and his arms and legs are strong and muscular. There is no hint of fat or loose skin on any part of his body, it's all muscle and raw strength. His figure is tall and imposing, intimidating even to some. His hands are large and strong, but rough from years of battle and hardship. Being an angel he has two strong feathery wings growing out of his back, the feathers a brilliant majestic white. He has the ability to hide them at will when they're not needed.
The first thing one would notice when looking at his face are his striking golden irises. They have the ability to be ferocious and absolutely terrifying when he is in a rage, and yet very gentle and soothing when he is with someone he cares deeply about. His expression is usually stern and unyielding, his large expressive eyes hidden behind a veil of hardness and mistrust, rarely allowing his more sensitive side to show. He has a large forehead and an imposing brow, his nose perfectly straight and wide, his jaw strong and his lips thick and wide. His straight golden locks are kept relatively short, falling to just above his eyebrows. There is a short stubble of unkempt facial hair lining his jaw, mostly because he doesn't put enough effort into staying clean-shaven.
The armour he wears is reminiscent of ancient Greek/Roman wargear, consisting of a muscle cuirass ( full-body breastplate ) and an armoured skirt made of leather straps, armoured pauldrons ( shoulder guards ), armoured vambraces ( arm guards ), and armoured greaves ( shin guards ). Beneath his armour he wears a pair of white tights which reach down to his mid thighs, and a simple white tunic. His feet are adorned in brown gladiator sandals, a layer of thick cotton padding inside them which provides both comfort and protection. He also has a helmet styled in the fashion of ancient Greek helmets, with cheek guards and a nose ridge, as well as a short hairless crest along the top of it. It isn't usually worn except during battle, instead strapped onto his weapon belt. His large round shield is usually strapped to his back when not in use, his sword is sheathed at his side and strapped onto his belt, and his knife is sheathed inside one of his greaves.
Biography
Ausiris was born out of the forbidden love between two angels, who were subsequently slain trying to subdue a violent uprising of fallen angels. He was left to the care of a human woman who kept his real identity a closely guarded secret. Growing up he lived a relatively simple life, helping the woman he called mother with everyday chores. When he reached the age of fifteen he realised that something about him was different, as a pair of white feathery wings had began growing out of his back. The woman was now forced to tell him the truth about his heritage, and he left home in search of a way to reach Heaven.
Now that he had come of age his existence was sensed by the angels in their lofty residence, and it wasn't long before he was found and led to them. He began intense training as a warrior angel, excited to follow in his parents' footsteps and avenge their untimely deaths. There were small periods of time where he was allowed to return to Earth to visit te woman who had raised him. It wasn't long before he managed to prove his mettle and show just how much he was worth on the battlefield. He ended up taking part in the most important missions which took place on Earth.
His frequent visits to Earth allowed a secret platonic love to form between him and a young human girl named Ellanda who lived in the village he had grown up in. The love between them grew and intensified until they could barely live without each other, yet it always remained pure and untainted. Meanwhile he continued to earn rank and respect within Heaven, though his love was always kept a secret. After they had known each other for several years, they decided to consummate their relationship the night before he left for a mission.
When Ausiris returned to Ellanda he found her home ransacked and pillaged by a gang of vagabonds. He walked in on them violating her dignity for the umpteenth time, his love on the verge of death from exhaustion, abuse and injury. Ausiris became overwhelmed with anger at what he saw, and blinded by fury he killed the men brutally and mutilated the corpses beyond recognition. When he finally snapped out of his angered stupor, he understood what he had done and felt great remorse. He held his love in his hands and cried until the tears flowed no more.
He buried Ellanda in a beautiful forest clearing with special meaning to them and left, never to return to this place which had caused him so much pain. There was no place in Heaven for him anymore because he had spilled human blood, and there was nothing to give meaning to his life. He became a wanderer who travelled from one place to another in search of people in need of help or demons to vanguish, desperate to find any kind of purpose.
After years had passed he finally found another reason to keep on fighting. A fallen angel by the name of Xaevakra had used the sacrifice of several angels to forge a sword of terrible power named Angelfire. This angel happened to be the very one who had led the revolt which resulted in the death of his parents. Aided by a group of wanderers who sought to subdue the evil, he managed to defeat Xaevakra and destroy the weapon.
She somehow managed to evade death however, and later returned more powerful than ever. Aiding an incubus named Lucilius, she attempted to use his plan to gain control of an ancient artefact known only as Azazel's Stone to free herself from Lucifer's clutches. The plan went awry partly due to Ausiris and a female elf named Sileya, and Xaevakra barely managed to escape Lucifer's wrath and her whereabouts are currently unknown.
Now Ausiris has found himself without a purpose once more, wandering the lands in search of one.
