I'm not sure if NBC has ordered the final four episodes to finish up the season, but Bill Lawrence has said multiple times that he's going to get a finale out there. If NBC decides to pass he'll try for ABC, who might finance and air the final four episodes, or put them on DVD.

Season seven, actually.

I wonder what the series finale will be like/is supposed to be like. I hope JD gets married. What will become of the half acre? Or JD's child? That's about the only cliffhanger I can think of, though I haven't watched any episode recently.
Gets married to who, is the question?

I believe he sold the half-acre when he moved into his own place, though I can't recall any specific mention of it. As for the kid:
Spoiler (Highlight to read):
His child was born, and Kim moved not too far away and he visits baby Sam every chance he gets. He and Kim aren't together as a couple, though.

I figured the season would go on longer, what with the kids being born and such. So you've got possible new characters eventually, after some time skips so the babies are then teenagers or adults.
The season was only plotted to be 18 or 19 episodes, just to wrap up the series. I highly doubt they will ever do anything like jump time ahead, other than in fantasies. Doesn't seem like Bill Lawrence's style.
