Re: (MC) Death Note: Rise of Kira(T)
So here is Chapter Two!
Chapter Two: The World Around Me.
The sound of traffic filled Lights ears as he walked home that afternoon. He felt proud of himself. He had been able to get bullies and other people in detention before, but not like this. His mother’s new ‘Crack down on school violence’ had been put into effect just this month. This meant that not only was Tom Michael not able to play football for the scout that was coming, but he would also receive a three week suspension and Saturday detention, which lasted from eight in the morning till four in the afternoon. It was just what he deserved for all the times he stole from other students, and for the times he had beaten them.
Light sighed as he looked around. Tall buildings towered all around him, while the cars sped by. Many of the people in those cars were classmates. Light was able to drive, in fact nothing stood in his way but himself. Light refused to drive anywhere he can not walk to. For starters it was a waste of money, and it resulted in good exercise.
In the distance he could hear the faint sounds of struggle, then it stopped. At first Light thought he had imagined it, but then he saw two figures run out of an alley, three purses clutched tightly in their hands. Light ran towards the alley the muggers had fled from. What he found disgusted him. Three old ladies were sprawled on the ground, blood everywhere. Light bent down to examine, but stopped when he heard a soft moaning coming from one of the bodies. He immediatly reached for his Cell phone and punched in the number, 9-1-1.
"There's been a mugging, and possible murder." Light said in a rushed voice.
"three elderly women, in an alley at Arlingtin street, near Pete's Pizza Parlor." Ten minutes later the ambulance arrived, along with a patrol car. Light told them everything he knew, but he had doubts that the criminals would be caught.
After giving his report on what happened and describing the criminals, he was once again walking home, with the events fresh in mind . Light rarely had to worry about muggers; he rarely carried large sums of money. The fact that his father was a detective and his mother the mayor kept most muggers at bay. His face had been plastered along with the rest of his family all over the city when she was running for mayor. At first he hated it, but then he people on the street bothered him less. The rest of these souls were not so lucky. River City had become a breeding ground for criminals. Only a few people actually tried to make a difference. The rest of them just try to survive.
Light was passing an electronics’ store; deep in thought when he heard the gun go off. Instinctively he dropped down to the side walk. shouts erupted from the store. Light looked around to find several people hiding.
"Please take what ever you want!" called a man from within the store.
"Well if your offering!" Another man shouted laughing hysterically. "hmm, do I want an MP3 player or the new iPod?" he laughed as he fired the gun off again.
"Yes, please take it! Just don’t kill me!" The victim said, "Take the money too!"
"Well I’ll be damned, this has got to be the best customer service I have ever seen!" the robber laughed.
Sirens in the distance could now be heard as the robber tried to leave with his loot. Light had a clear view of the robber as he left. He was lanky, with blonde hair wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. His arms were full of gadgets, and his gun, a revolver, was tucked in his jeans. Light noticed this above all else. The robber was oblivious to the sirens, and was laughing. The thought of an escaped mental patient crossed Lights mind as he slowly got up. The robber had his back turned to him.
Slowly, Light walked towards the robber who was still laughing and celebrating. Once behind him, Light tackled him. A surprised gasp came from the man as they fell to the ground. Light could hear the thud of the robbers head hit the cement. Light desperately tried to pin him, but the man was fighting back. They struggled there for several minutes, and then there was another shot. It echoed through out Lights head. He wasn’t even aware that the criminal had managed to get his gun. Pain exploded in his right left shoulder. Light screamed in pain. The criminal pushed him over and made his final mistake.
"That’s why people don’t mess with James Adrian," The man said as got up, spitting at Lights feet. Light made a note to remember the mans name and face as he ran away. They would come in handy when the police interrogated him.
Light was clutching his shoulder when the police arrived. It was pain he could never imagine. A odd thought crept into his mind. ‘I now have a whole new respect for women giving birth.’ Light could feel his warm blood flowing from his wound.
"You all right?" he heard one of the officers say. "Hey Joe get an ambulance." Now talking to light he asked, "What happened?"
Light explained everything from the second he heard the first gun shot to when they arrived. By the time he finished reporting his account of what happened, the ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital where he was later admitted to the ER.
Light was laying down in his hospital room. The feint sound of the machine's humming echoed in his ears. His left shoulder pained him, but the medicine dulled it significantly. They said it was standard procedure to keep gun shot victims over night, but Light wondered if his mother had anything to do with his stay.
He hated being in the hospital. He didn't mind visiting people. In fact he found the idea of being afraid of the hospital some what amusing. Being an actual patient at a hospital on the other hand was something he detested. He had been hospitalized once in the past to get his appendix removed.
A Television was propped up in front of his bed. Light reached for the remote and pressed the power button. The TV blinked on, a gorgeous brunet was detailing the days events.
"Three elderly women were murdered this afternoon during a mugging," The reporter said. Light cursed under his breath. What kind of creep mugs old ladies? "A robbing at a electronic store left one individual wounded, police are looking for this man." A picture of James Adrian appeared on the screen. "He is also wanted for the murders of Lilly Tanner and George Everett. Please if you have any information, please report it!"
Light changed the channel and found another news channel. This time a young anchorman with short brown hair and wide smile was reporting. "Today in River City, four police officers have been questioned my Internal Affairs for alleged drug charges. We tried to get an interview but their lawyers refused." The anchorman had a calm, almost bored, voice. "A gun was recovered from a student’s locker at P.S. 114." Light changed to another news program. This time it was a women with blonde hair.
"Gang leader Jack Trally was acquitted of all charges in the rape of Angela Santony." Disgusted, Light shut the TV off and stared at the ceiling.
"The world would be better off with out these kind of people, " Light said aloud, "They only bring pain and suffering into the world," he finished. Then a loud noise echoed in the room, as if a notebook had fallen.
Light looked around his bed. On the right side, he could see a black notebook on the right side of his bed facing down. Curious, Light bent down and picked it up. A cold chill ran down his spine. He shrugged the feeling off and turned it over and read, ‘Death Note’ written in a clear font.
