Dark Lord Ganondorf: the *hard* way

This may or may not be old news to some people, however, it's recent (ish) news to me, therefore, someone else might not have known.

A few weeks ago I was replaying the final boss battle in Twilight Princess (Wii)--having fun, you know? Well, there's always a little trouble during the horseback battle, I think.

Anyway, when it got down to the one-on-one swordfight between Link and Ganondorf, all was going according to plan--I was basically shredding him using the 'Chance' thing.

But then, I just had to lift my right hand to take care of the little itch on my nose. The sensor picked up the movement, and well, Link swung his sword--nothing spectacular.

But as soon as Link swung his sword, I saw the little red flash, indicating that I got in a hit--apparently, 'Dorfy was just about to shove his sword in Link's face when it happened.

So I thought to myself...there's another, much more challenging way than beating him with the 'Chance' and/or fishing rod gimmick.

I was low on batteries that day, so I decided to call it quits.

Today, I bought some batteries, brought it home and hooked it up.

The last fight with Ganondorf was on--no more fishing rod or waiting for him to run up. I actually went full offensive, attacking at every moment's notice.

Jumping attacks did not work--they were slow and easy to dodge, allowing Dorfy to get in a good hit from time to time.

Spinning attacks, coupled with normal slashing were easily blocked by his shiny piece of weaponry.

This was the moment when I found another reason to love the backslice attack. Rolling around him and attacking at a dangerously close range was doing the job. Even though Dorfy blocks a good few of the attacks, he seems to get frustrated and tries to kick or slash Link, leaving himself wide open.

He takes that hit, then two quick slashes (or a single spin attack), before regaining composure, able to block once again with his shiny thing. Now usually, when you get the 'Chance' you knock him down after a barrage of hits--knocking him down using the above method, requires some patience and quick fingers.

It was a while before I got in the first knock down. I was happy--this actually made the final boss battle seem like the final boss battle.

Washing, rinsing and repeating was all I needed to do before I was finally able to use the Finishing move on him.

[/ramble]

So I ask, anyone of you tried this? You should, if you found the final battle lacking in difficulty.
