Re: (ZGen/Fan) Link's Shadow (t)
Chapter 6: Saving a village
Link rode back to Lon Lon, arriving late at night. Fewer men were out in front of the ranch. As he closed in on the entrance, a knight rode up,” Sorry, sir, due to safety purposes, we can let no one in between the hours of 12-2."
Link raised a brow,” Last time, Malon told me '11-4', what, were we attacked?"
"Yes sir, we saw a few enemy knights approaching, well, they seemed to be, they had long necks and-"
"Yeah, I just finished killing off a group at the Zora's Domain."
"WHAT!? Kid, that's dangerous! Don't do that! If I catch you leaving for that again, I'm having you arrested for safety purposes. Leave war for the military!" he exclaimed.
Link nodded slowly, riding his horse into the ranch, putting it in the stables, he went to his tent, which he found in fairly good condition. He immediately went back to sleep.
He awoke the next day by hearing voices and shouts outside. He got up, stretching quickly; he put on his boots, sheathed his sword, and went out. He found men running around training.
He searched among the crowd, looking for one of his friends. Spotting Malon, he walked over," Malon! What time is it? I need to know so I can leave to warn other villages of the enemy!"
"Huh?" said Malon, getting up after she finished giving a bucket of water to a horse to drink,” What do you mean? Is that what you left for last time? To warn other tribes? You said you left to see if Lake Hylia had a military encampment! Link, you could be killed!"
"I know, I know, but I must go, if I've lasted this long, I can obviously, last longer! So, what time is it?"
"Ugh, 10:32... or... I think it was..."
"Okay, thanks!" Link told her, walking up to his horse, letting her eat, he asked the guards what time it was.
"Well, boy, its 11:00, its gonna be another hour before you can leave..."
"Oh, okay, thanks." He replied, walking away. You might have guessed, an hour was too long right now for Link. Who knows who darkness was attacking just then! He saddled up his horse, and rode him out of the practice track. Everyone paid little attention, until a knight rode up to him, telling him citizens couldn't use it for practice.
"Sorry son, you're going to have to get off your horse."
"No, I'm going to go!"
The horse began to run. The knight rode after him, people began to watch as Link rode to the fence. He went up in speed, and suddenly, his horse leapt up over the fence. An arrow was fired from a stockade at him, but he continued to ride away. He heard shouts behind him, and soon, Lon Lon was below the horizon.
He began riding to the Southern woods, where he would look for another village to warn. He rode through a small clearing in the woods, knowing humans had been there.
He rode to a small, really old bridge, which he crossed. Entering a much better cut trail through the woods, he rode onward, all the way till he reached the entrance to a small village. An old water wheel was running, people walked about, a farmer was fertilizing his plants.
A few young kids played in their back-yard. One had a sling-shot. Link brought his horse up to a man, who greeted him,” Welcome to Ordon!"
"Hello, I am looking for villages in Hyrule, to warn them of an attack."
"An attack?! By who?" the man questioned.
"By a... um... a enemy to Hyrule, they're looking for people to attack, I've seen hundreds of their soldiers marching, and they've been wreaking havoc across the land."
"We have no soldiers! We'd be killed instantly!" the man protested.
"I'm here; I could ride to a local military base and warn them to send soldiers here." Link offered. The sad thing is, local, was Lake Hylia, he couldn't return to Lon Lon.
"Well, I guess..." the man replied.
Link nodded, riding off. He rode all across the land, to Lake Hylia. He got some knights and archers with him.
When they later arrived to Ordon, they found hundreds of soldiers of darkness. A body of one of the villagers lay before Link. The soldiers ran around, a house was on fire. The knights charged, they were greatly out-numbered. The archers opened fire on a group of troops. A man began running at Link with his large battle axe, but link drew his bow.
Reaching in his quiver, he placed the arrow in the string, took aim carefully, and let go. The arrow flew into the man's chest. He fell to his death with a scream in agony.
A few hylian pikemen had arrived and began to fight. An arrow flew passed Link's head. He turned his horse around, running to another troop; he sliced the man's head in two while passing. He saw a messenger on horse-back ride off to Lake Hylia.
He turned back around, loading in another arrow; he hit an enemy knight in his long neck. He rode over to a kid, who about to have his head was chopped off. He shot an arrow at the man with the axe, which looked up after it had just missed his head.
Link drew a sword, hitting the man has he rode by. The kid ran to his house where a hylian knight was positioned. Link turned to see an enemy archer fire. It hit a knight in the chest, who began to bleed, and then fall off. He drew another arrow to his bow, letting the string go; it nailed the creature in the head.
Finally, just as they were out of men, several pikemen, archers, and knights rode up, later followed by catapults. The enemy continued to fight, showing no sign of giving up. A hylian archer fell dead, and Link rode to the body, filling his quiver back up with arrows. He loaded his bow, hitting another enemy knight.
The enemy ran back over the hills as one of their men was crushed by the catapult's fire. They ran as fast as they could, a few being hit by a flying arrow before they could get over the hill.
Finally, after the close-call, the villagers came back out. The mayor looked around,” Where’d... that... kid go?"
