Here's the real deal: Nintendo was trying to come up with a new name for the Revolution. One of the
PR guys was all like "Why do we even need a new name?". Another
PR guy responded "I'll tell you why: iWhy". Iwata was all like "Symmetricity is key, it's going to be called the iWi". Unfortunately, when he e-mailed the proposal to everybody, he misspelled it "Wii". Miyamoto got completely drunk at the next Nintendo party and started yelling "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!". People took this as a sign of approval for 'Wii', and the name stuck.
