I have a problem with Metroid Prime (1).

I'm in Chozo Ruins, early in the game, and I'm trying to get to the Furnace. But, when I get to the West Furnace Access, not even halfway through the hall, the game freezes in the exact same spot every time.

Can anyone tell me how to fix/ prevent this?

Oh, I already tried resetting the game, and that didn't work.
