Re: (ZGen/Fan) Link's Shadow (t)
CHAPTER 3: The Gorons Test
Link climbed, it was a little cold, but no snow fell. He held a small cloak around him tightly, walking up the cheap path.
Eventually, he found a massive metal fort. It was in his way, blocking the rest of the path. Sleet slowly began to fall, and a chill wind began blowing. Link slowly drew his weapon. He crept slowly to the fort, knowing not what would happen.
He found netting on the front, and began to climb. His fingers felt numb from the cold, and they hurt when banged against the metal wall. He nearly fell, but gained his balance, continuing to climb. He reached the top, pulling himself onto the wall. He walked passed several catapults before a large Goron jumped up," Halt, human! “He shouted loudly. He knocked Link over.
“Ugh... “Link groaned. The Goron picked him up," I'm showing you to my leader, he'll know what to do.” He hit Link in the head when he tried yelling, and quickly brought him up the mountain.
Link awoke in a large room, it was warmer in here. He slowly got up on his weak legs. He was chained down. A large Goron stood before him, circled by other Gorons." Well, well... A human, your type is rare around here! ““Listen,” began Link," I have come to warn you o-" He was hit in the head. He felt the hard cold ground, he felt dizzy." Silence human! We'll un-chain you, but you better scram, weakling!" Link felt the floor going down, and he awoke on the side of the mountain, very cold.
He slowly got to his feet, wandering around. Suddenly a young Goron rolled out, Link drew his sword, but the Goron smiled," Oh... so you're the one that got kicked out of the mountain, not like the last human that came here..." “Huh? What happened? I thought the Gorons and hylians were-" " Well, we got a new elder, and he told us that humans are weak and evil, and the only way one can come in is if they beat a test..."
“I came to warn you all of danger, but I guess I'll be on my way..." “No no no, stay, I can show you a secret to beat the test." Link nodded as the kid lead him away. He went through a long tunnel, and at the end was a large chest. He opened it, revealing a nicely folded, red tunic, with strange black markings on it." Worn by an ancient human hero to become like a Goron, Wear it." The kid commanded. Link nodded, changing into the tunic, putting his other clothes in his satchel.
He felt warm, and tall. He walked out," Thank You for all you have done! I'll warn them!" and with that, Link made his way out of the tunnel, and back on the mountain trail.
He climbed the mountain, and got to the top of a large tower, and inside, was the elder," Ugh, you again human!? Do you really wanna take the test!?" “Yes..." said Link coolly.
The Goron lead him to an arena, the two stepped on. He explained the first person to fall looses. The man ran at Link, attempting to grab him. Link ducked quickly, wrapping his arms around the Goron, he began to push, the Goron struggled, but Link pushed.
The Goron knocked him down, and tried kicking him. Link felt the hard rock foot nail him. The Goron elder lifted him off the ground, and began walking. He tried throwing, but Link leapt up, using the goron's arms to support him, he kicked the Goron hard in the face. The Goron fell.
Link lifted him off, pushing hard; he threw him over the ring. Everyone went silent. The elder started laughing, "You beat me once, but now you must finish the final test..." He led Link to a tunnel, two guards moving, Link walked in a large room. The door behind him was locked.
A large beast crawled out of the lava. It looked like a slug with hands; it blew a wave of fire at Link, which knocked him over quick. Link leapt to his feet, running at the thing, swing his sword. No effect. Another burning wave went out, sending Link flying.
He stood back up, climbing up a partly broken ladder, he found a platform. The best blew a wave of fire, which missed, and he began to cool off, revealing a gem on it's back. It was crawling to the lava. Link knew what to do. He leapt off of the platform, landing on the monster, shoving his sword strait through the gem, it shattered. The slug bellowed, sending Link flying. The slug crawled around.
Link finally saw it stop, fall over, and melt into a pool of jelly. A few cheers were heard, and the door behind Link was opened, he walked out proudly, hardly bleeding anywhere. The Goron elder shook his head," You, human, are strong. I miss-took you for a weakling. What is it you wanted to tell us?" “Someone is attacking, they're coming here! You must be ready..." The Gorons thanked him, and Link started down the mountain. A few minutes away from the bottom, he played the song on his ocarina. He opened his eyes. He was in an empty white, foggy, space.
Zelda stood before him," Well? Did it work? It took you awhile..." “Yes, they have been warned." “We should warn the Zoras next." offered Zelda. Link nodded, closing his eyes, he opened them, still holding the Ocarina, and he felt like he had just waked up from sleep.
He stretched silently, and continued down.
