Chapter 2-Troubles in the "Simple" Task

Wow, its been a long time since I wrote. Sorry, I've been gone for a long Time! Here's Chap. 2!

Chapter 2: Troubles in the "Simple" Task

Troy had been busy all dusk setting up camp and starting a fire. Reira found herself missing the rivers and lake of the Hylian Province within only a few hours. "Don't worry, we only need to ride south a little. There should be little detours, now that we've straightened out the horsed issue!" Troy continued his attempts to cheer Reira but she just heaved great sighs. She absolutely hated being dry, and the crackling fire was no comfort for her misery. "How can you stand being so close to the fire? There's ash and heat and the air's dry!" Reira sat a good distance from the fire while Troy was nestled as closely as possible in his bed. Another foot closer and he'd be on fire.

The full moon was brighter then ever and the crikets sung sofely while Reira and Troy slept in the engulfing darkness. The stars seemed to glisten in glee for the clear night. Troy was sleeping soundly, but Reira was constanly awoken by fear. She was unprotected, with bullbin loose and Troy was too busy snoring to hear the rustling bushes. He was the only one who could protect her, but she feared for both their sakes. The rustling grew louder and louder until Reira could no longer stand it. She woke Troy and packed up. They would ride in the twilight.

Troy yawned. "I can barely stay awake anyways, but you've never left Lake Hylia so I should of guessed you'd be jumpy." Reira went red. "I'm not jumpy! Something was in the bushes! You said yourself it wasn't far to Hyrule Castle, we can sleep there!" Troy pouted. "We won't reach Hyrule castle until midday, then we'll be too tired to give Princess Zelda the book." Reira ignored him. But while they were arguing, they didn't notice that a shadow formed only a little while away, and was now watching their every move.

A wild laughter broke out only a minute later. The horses screamed and kicked, but Troy calmed them the best he could. And pulsating from the darkness was a voice, creul and cold yet toned with amusement, giving it its only life. "I was going to retrieve the book, but you brought it to me. That book has an outstanding influence on the future. IT MUST NOT REACH ZELDA!" The voice's vessel rose until you could see it clearly, constrasted against the moon. It was a silhouette of a man, a mere shadow of the real thing. "I am the memory of the Dark Lord Ganondorf, the etching of his hate and his lust for power sewed into the fabrics of time!"

Reira and Troy listened with amazement, and confusion. Troy was too stupid to understand a thing that was going on. The vocabulary Ganon's Etching used was too complex for him. Reira, who was raised in wisdom, understood everyhing and was amazed that such a thing could happen. Yet she heard of phantoms rising from one's unfurfilled goals and their will for revenge. So this Ganon Shadow was Ganon's Phantom? Wanting a name to call him by, Reira spoke out. "What do you identify yourself by? A phantom? A shadow? An etching?" "I am Ganondorf's Hate. Nothing more or less." "Ganon's Hate?" questioned Troy. "I don't understand what's going on!!!" Neither had the patience to explain anything to Troy.

"We will never give you Naryru's Book!" yelled Reira. Though you couldn't see it, you could fell that Ganon's Hate gave a nasty grin. "I have no enthusiam in fighting you, as wuick as it would be. So I'll merely put a permanent obstacle in your journey. Or crush your hope by seeing my power!" And thus the atmosphere grew dark and overpowerings. Cracks appeared in the ground, and water welled up from inside them. Ganon's Hate gave a frightning yell and a great river formed, the flow too speedy to allow them to cross. They were cut off from Hyrule Castle. "This river runs all the way to Kakariko Village, there is no point where you can cross it. It is suicide to attempt to swim it." And with that, the silhouette grew fainter and fainter until Ganon's Hate had vanished.

"Well, I guess I'll bide you farewell! You can't swim this, afterall." said Reira positively. "YOU'RE GONNA GIVE UP AFTER ALL THIS?! Remember what Ganon's Hate said, Nayru's Book will decide the future!" protested Troy. "Well, he said it influenced the future. Besides, I'm not giving up. I'm gonna swim it! I was raised by Zora's, so I can do it. You're a terrible swimmer and its stupid to think you could make it."

Troy continued to protest as Reira slipped Nayru's Book into an air-tight bag to prevent water damage and removed excess clothing. Of course, Troy tried force, but Reira's muscles were strong from years of swimming and threw him off. Troy was about to attempt his last tactic when Reira dived in a swam with all her force.

"REIRA!!!!!" "TROY!!!!!----*gurgle*" The current was indeed strong, and Reira was swept away. Troy jumped onto Farore (the horse, of course) and rode downstream beside the river. The current was so quick, the Reira was being carried off faster then Troy could ride.

Next Chapter, prepare for Drama!
