Well the title says "
That monster is still eating oil rigs". I'm guessing that's how it causes the explosion. I haven't checked the video yet but I'm planning to when I come back from college.

It seems that the explosion didn't blow away the statue's head. It was just ripped off by the creatures claws. Since its huge ofcourse it would be flying at a great distance.
