People in groups are stupid especially in dire situations where they need to be organized and productive.

I have a thought (I agree with you by the way); what about global warming, and the threat of a new ice age? There lies a problem which has been thought about, but a realistic solution not yet found, and that would certainly lead, as you said, to suicie, famine etc etc.

I agree. However, early humans did not rely on technology, because they did not have it. Technology has not always been the best thing to have - in the Vietnam Conflict, the NLF and NVA had much less technology than America, and still won, but they were used to the terrain, and to the lack of technology - they didn't miss what they hadn't had. Nowadays, most of the Western world relies heavily on technology. Millions of people would probably die if they didn't have electrical and gas cooking appliances, because while early humans were skilled at hunting and cooking over an open fire, most people these days are not. Hell, lots of people I know would probably commit suicide if they lost those neccesities such as TV, Music, Computers etc etc.

What is the Patriot Act? I've heard of it, but I never knew what it actually was.
EDIT:
Flames, thank you very much.
You have inspired me;
I am now writing a song, entitled "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" about how there is this delicate balance you speak of. Thank you again.
