Re: Between Darkness and Light (Altamira)
Somehow, I knew that, at some point during this battle, I'd wind up being frozen in place by one of her containment spells. I'd recalled something about a battle where she had frozen Kellson in place, or maybe It had been one of the fights that I had heard about through the Dome's many students. Even so, wasn't anything I could do right now. Well, that is, except for brace myself for pain.
While I stood, unable to move, I watched her fists and legs move. I could feel every blow that she struck me with. Powerful kicks to the chest and punches to the face. A strikingly fierce kick to the side of my head and several punches to my chest and gut. The shadow charged punches and kicks hurt quite a bit, and the fact that all I could do was stand there as they flurried at me gave me a feeling of inability to do anything useful. Still, this was a good way to start off the fight. After all, pain is temporary, pride is forever.
A final punch to my face, one that threw me flying backwards and landing on my back on the ground, sent me soaring backwards. I felt the ability to move return. Now then, the time had come to fight back. Odds are, she knew my weakness to shadows, and thought whatever she had done would last for as long as it could. I didn't know how long it could last, but I know it did last three minutes. Three minutes of pure pain that had washed over my body, but I could feel it subsiding. The shadows were painful, but more an annoying, stinging pain then a serious pain.
Another punch moved towards me, and my glance moved towards her fist. Only once chance, and I'd have to make it count. My hand moved as fast as I could, grabbing her fist with my right and, and rolling on my heels as I sat up and driving my elbow into her gut. The loud clang as my armor struck something harder then titanium echoed. The only reason I knew that whatever armor she had was harder then titanium was because I felt the vibrations run through her armor and mine.
Well, it didn't matter that my attack hadn't hurt her. It was time for a new, off the cuff plan. I released her and and quickly spun around, wrapping aura around my hand again and uppercutting her upwards. I heard a similar clang to the one that had been made when my armor had struck hers as her body bounced once into the air. I shook my hand and dispelled the aura. Something about knowing that I was punching shadows with my bare fists wasn't a settling thought.
Still, I couldn't waste time. I took off after Cadenza as she rose, wrapping aura around my hands and swinging my fists quickly. My quick jabs and punches narrowly missed her face as I continued to pepper attacks. Now then, to get in an attack. I ducked down quickly and spun on my right heel, driving the heel of my other boot into her chest and sending her flying back.
I had released a burst of aura as I had struck her with my boot. I doubt even she didn't expect that. Well, that attack had worked as well as Roery's boosters, it seemed. That strong kick was enough, but I imagine the added force of the little bit from my Aura Jets hopefully hurt her. If that didn't, the building she crashed into might do something, even if it isn't much. I smiled. This was getting interesting.
