My idea behind Ganondorf coming from Termina is based off of OoT when he was thrown in between dimensions. He finds a way into Termina, and his followers in Hyrule are able to open a portal to Termina and let him back into Hyrule. Ganondorf starts a war to distract the world from his real quest. So I guess that takes it slow like in Star Wars, but with a different approach. He farces the two dimensions into a war and then looks for the Triforce pieces with nobody but Link after him.

Here's another question..in the future modern world, what would Link do before his quest? In TP he was a rancher ( a common non descript occupation ) and in his other incarnations he was too young to really have a career before being drafted as the hero. At age 16-20ish I could see him being a student, I have trouble picturing Link as much older than that.
