To be fair, it's not on the brink of civil war, it pratically is a civil war. The whole place is a fruit basket, and if it were up to me, I would just leave it and let it settle itself. Unfortunately, that can't happen, as things may turn worse if it is left alone, like a larger country out there may swallow it up, or another Saddam Hussein type person might appear. Plus, the west kind of needs the oil to, you know, survive. Unless the government puts effort into alternate fuels, they will just keep trying to protect their oil reserves.
I think that things are starting to get better over there. But it will still be a long while, and I wonder if the US will keep up with it. I mean, I think the UK have future plans to pull out if I'm correct.
