Lineage of the Shademan

Order of the Night
The Warrior Lineage of the Shademan

I hereby pronounce this thread to be the only official thread for characters of mine that are currently for Battle Arena use. Though I have more, they go mainly unused and so are now defunct as far as the BA is concerned. Therefore, this is the definitive place for finding information regarding my characters if you are interested in some kind of skirmish or roleplay at the Battle Arena.

The characters that will be posted here are already approved, but will be placed here for convenience on my part when it comes to directing others to my assorted profiles.

~~~~~~~APPEARANCE~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~THEMES~~~~~~~

“The Leaving Song Pt. II” by AFI.
“Gentlemen (Go To Sleep)” by Far-Less.
“Wake Up, Open The Door, And Escape To The Sea” by Blaqk Audio.

~~~~~~~POWERS~~~~~~~
Blood Summon: A talent that Dust acquired from Arimas; this is a skill that utilizes the special blood that runs through his veins. At will, Max can make the blood a crystalline solid, even into crystalline sharp points that tear out of his body to attack his foe. For example, if he sticks out a finger and wills it, the end of the finger will tear open and a sharp crimson blade will emerge, growing quickly outward to stab his enemy.
Feast of Virtue: The ability to absorb the virtue of blood for sustenance. This is done through absorption into Dust’s essence by his touch, but only through his skin’s touch. He cannot draw virtue through a glove. His virtue craving needs to be supplied once every three days, in order to maintain proper regeneration, sanity, and overall function. Normal food no longer tastes quite the same.
Flight:
Thanks to his new wings, Max can fly at higher speeds than he could when he just used his Psionics to carry himself. These black wings are leathery and featherless, like that of a bat. They glow green, because they were the mutation response to his close contact with the cornerstone that housed the Goddess Yunei, the source of Nediryo’s power over his lay followers.
Jaws of Ein Soph: A technique Dust used once to devour the twins that Nediryo decreed were cursed to become an anomaly that would destroy the cosmos. It appears that it was a power given to Dust for the specific purpose of fulfilling the deed. It had been dormant, but when he destroyed Yune’s Cornerstone, it brought the power back into active state from the remnant energy. Once Arimas died, it reacted with his new desolate state, the Null, to allow him to add attributes to his body temporarily by swallowing them. Or, he can simply lick them with his tongue when the technique is active to “paste” it to his body for a less effective attachment. Also, he can store things in himself this way, to replace the portal to Nexus he lost when Arimas died.
The technique is evident whenever his tongue and the inside of his mouth become a slimy black color.
Regeneration: Max can regenerate lost limbs, but it takes excessively long periods of time to do so, and if Max loses a limb, he can reattach the body part, whole or not, to accelerate the process.
Psionics: The ability to make other things float, and the ability to unlock doors without physical touch. Teleportation is included, so is the ability to push or grab objects with pure willpower.
Hypnotism: Usable to lure weak prey into a sense of false security and trance, it can also block out pain in a friend or misdirect a weak foe to make fatal mistakes. Only works by directly gazing into his one flesh eye as he slowly swings the small silver pendulum he keeps in his pocket.
Hard-hitter Structure: Max’s physique is reinforced by a quality of strength that expands from him like an aura of some sort which reinforces his movements in a way that his own physical body does not quite reflect his actual power. He can take hard blows that would kill a man his size, thanks to this aura.
Healing Saliva: can be used to seal small wounds, like bites, utilizing small microbes that coat tissue. These same microbes regenerate his limbs and flesh when wounded, and like him, are not so much alive as they are functional in a cancerous fashion.
~~~~~~~INVENTORY~~~~~~~

Zayin Stones:

These are small red gems implanted in the back of Dust’s hands and down his spine, which increase his attack power with each successful strike. The same shaman that gave him his false eye put them in place as his initiation into the Yuru Clan.

The Mirror Nirvantu:

This is the mystical mirror that was granted to Maximilian by a man named Saint Sorren, who claimed the destiny of the mirror itself was for him to take it. Apparently, Saint had no personal ability to use the mirror himself, and it is still a mystery of where the device came from.

Thanks to this mirror, Maximilian's alter ego, Orion, remains stable within his mind. This mirror has connections with the all realms of the afterlife, by invoking the power of Vivaeum, a sacred river that serves as a channel between different spiritual planes. In addition, this mirror absorbed Jenorath and Dredgius, the weapons of Orion and Maximilian, because they were, in reality, missing shards of the mirror's glass. What was released from this in turn was the Great Knife, which is a projection of Nirvantu’s power.

Nirvantu is one with and yet exists simultaneously with Max's soul. The mirror is a gate and window into it, and also a maintainer of Orion, who is kept in bondage by a mental construct of a cage within the ghostly glass. Not only is Orion kept here, but all other faces of Max’s subconscious may be reflected.

The Ghost Knife Merco:

The Ghost Knife is dazzling to any novice who has not seen the beauteous effects magic can create: it is like a pure diamond sculpted into a blade, and when it is brought into direct sunlight, it glows with warm colors. However, when in moonlight or dimmer illuminations, it begins to call upon cooler colors in a kaleidoscopic display of auras and energies from all the universe’s deeper vibrations. In former, incomplete incarnations, it went by the names Jenorath and Dredgius. He can invoke the blade at will. It is technically a short sword, but is as sturdy as a broadsword and incredibly wide, like.

The Shaman Eye:

This is actually the stone of an aged shaman (a friend of Rando) who carved it in a shape that would fit neatly inside Max's socket to replace his lost eye. Bonded to Max's consciousness, it can see like a regular eye. When detached and placed somewhere, it can relay the information to the vampire from any distance, and can even transmit sounds received.

Pendulum

A handy talisman for bending others to his will. Made of silver, and hanging from a small black rope. It has no actual magical powers. Fairly ordinary item.

~~~~~~~FIGHTING STYLE ~~~~~~~
Yuru Clan Style: Max’s fighting style is far from elaborate, and even looks a little ugly. Kirkaas, brother of the infamous Rando, taught the vampire the stance and deft movements that were taught originally by their lineage founder, which had been passed down through generations to them, and their grandfather Sod Yuru before them. It revolves around quick movements that are close to his body, bringing the maximum force of the strikes in a fashion vaguely similar to Wing Chun.
~~~~~~~TECHNICAL DATA ~~~~~~~

Unusual Traits: Whenever he comes in contact with holy energy, the part of his body closest to it dissolves physically for as long as it is near. Same for demonic energy. It simply turns his body translucent whenever it comes into contact, and therefore it could be used to negate his hand to hand strikes.

Strengths: His strengths lie in his resourceful nature, his endurance, and his agility. While some characters depend more on their brute force to win, Dust's style of fighting actually operates based on the magical stones sealed along his backbone and in the backs of his hands to increase his actual force by multiplying it for every successful impact. Max cannot be harmed by Holy energy, which passes through his flesh as if it were air.

Weaknesses: Anything made of silver scars his skin, and incredibly bright light burns his bodily tissues. In addition, heat-based attacks and weapons are effective against the Devourer's strange biology, which includes fire magic and lasers of strong focus.

Personality: This formidable vampire is, believe it or not, a person like anyone else. He’s a dreamer, and has a tendency to find himself in situations where his ideals and reality seem to meet…for a while. He has had a hard life in the past, and at other times, things have been easy, so he’s seen it all, at least as far as mundane life and tragedy is concerned.

He is easygoing, and yet very forceful at times when something catches his eye. In this way, he is ruthless in pursuing these things. He is very much the observer, and gains peace of mind attempting to understand the world around him. Moreover, while he tries repeatedly, all his failed attempts to create a paradise so far has made him somewhat of a cynic, damaging his own enjoyment of life.

~~~~~~~BIOGRAPHY~~~~~~~
[Excerpt “Seer” Occult Magazine, “Rich Witch”]
Immortal Eye is a prestigious corporation that has prospered on nearly all corners of the globe. It is almost synonymous with big names like Max Eckhart, even though it seems that fellow founder Solomon Delgado was a bigger player than Maxi in the original cultivation of the company…at least as more details regarding the origins of this technological giant have become known.
However, Maximilian is perhaps the most interesting of the rare animals called millionaires that walk the Earth today. And we’re not just talking about his money. He’s declared to us in private that he is a practitioner of the arts, a fellow witch who would even go so far as divulge some of his celeb secret rites.
“I’ve been to other worlds than ours,” he confides as he talks about a realm he visited during one of his mystical journeys, where he purports he disappears for years at a time. He claims to have had another wife and twins during his time suspended there until he found a way back. He seemed very sensitive about this topic, and wanted to move to other aspects of his travels as well.
We patiently heard out his fantasies, but noted that the sexy witch wasn’t using the proper pronunciation for some of his incantations he shared with us. While we were impressed by his claims, we go purely on scientific evidence. If you can’t even pronounce your rites properly, you can’t expect us to take you THAT seriously. Especially if you tell us you’re a two-hundred-year-old vampire as well as a witch. And if he really were such a powerful being, why would he tell a publication as wide-read as us? Our demographic may be narrow, but that’s still not very intelligent of him.
His familiar of choice was standard. He drew a sketch of his spiritual guide, that of a purple monkey demon he had named “Konjiro.” I suppose the Asian flavor of Tokyo makes everything come out that way, even for a man who was born in Romania. Speaking of Romania, wasn’t that Dracula guy from there? Eh, probably just where he got that vampire thing. Pretty corny.
While we’re somewhat making him our celeb whipping boy here, we still have a lot of good things to say about Mr. Eckhart. He’s done a lot of good charity work, despite the reputation his company has for alleged illegal substance dealing. I mean, what’s cocaine to anybody when you give to starving children? Seer Magazine appreciates his work, and he isn’t bad looking either. Sure, he’s probably got more makeup on than my mother, but at least he’s got the face for it. And he’s pretty lean, too. He gave us a few shirtless poses (even though we don’t believe we asked, we appreciated it) and let’s just say this interviewer will be holding onto those images for a rainy day.
~~~~~~~FAMILIARS~~~~~~~

Doppelganger Orion, The Dark Tulpa:

Appearance:

Themes:
"Sad But True" by Metallica
"Apparition" by Most Precious Blood

Description: Orion is a creation of Max's mind that achieved physical manifestation through sheer intensity. Originally, it was a state of mind he took an assassin, to protect his sanity. Avoiding the bloodshed as best he could, he was unaware of the horrid consequences.

Perhaps because Max was not in his own realm, something went wrong. The being appeared as a haunting figure, quietly beheading Cassandra's daughter from a previous relationship, Anna, and then, in secret, drove her son Julius mad so that he would venture into the deepest parts of the Arugian forest Panterran to be slain like a dog.

The doppelganger had destroyed his life.

It took the combined force of both Max and his first love Cassandra to defeat this being in their first encounter, where it appeared defeated. Once Nediryo Pharxes, the Emerald Tyrant, had exiled him from Arugia, he thought his troubles with the Tulpa were over, but no. Drawn to Max’s feelings of attraction to a woman named Valdaria, it reformed once more, this time possessing Max and driving him to attack her. That was the second time. In addition, even after that, the being persisted. It may be that it will only die when Max is gone.

Currently, Orion resides inside of the mirror Nirvantu, as Max has used it to trap the accursed being. As of yet, he has not been able to find a use for the wretched double, though he may in time.
