Re: Hobbys? Any Crafty People?
I have no skill in anything to do with crafts. I couldn't draw a straight line to save my life, even with a ruler. But, I do have hobbies that don't involve crafts or anything of that nature.
I play guitar when I have free time. I really am quite content to just sit in my room and belt out tunes for hours on end. Not that I mind performing in front of people, large crowds give me quite a rush, and I like to play when my family gets together. My brother and cousin both play instruments as well, so when we all get together we get some great mini-concerts going.
I also like writing. These days I'm not so much into writing fiction anymore (except in my head), but like to write reviews and article and editorials. Which sort of ties into my next hobby.
Watching TV. While lots of people may say this isn't a hobby, I watch TV almost always critically now. Sure, I watch some shows for the fun of it, but I really like just kicking back and watching shows and thinking critically about the message they are getting across, and how they are doing it. Whether it be something as simple as how a show is representing the high school experience, to deeper themes of modern feminism or the concept of forgiveness and redemption. So when I'm watching TV for those purposes, I consider it a hobby, and not as pure entertainment or just something to kill time with. Same can be said for when I listen to music sometimes, or watch a movie.
I also like reading, though I don't read as much as I used to. Still like to read every night before I go to sleep, and I have quite a number of books waiting for me at home to read when winter break comes, so I don't have to worry about getting my readings for school done over them.
