Re: Board and Card Games

You know it, brother! Real gamers play more than just video games! I'd probably be a total shut-in if board/card games weren't still around. The most popular game among the people I play with is still Risk, but you wanted to know about newer games, so here are some other things we like:

- RoboRally (Crazy stuff. Yeah, it's awesome.)
- Pretty much anything else from Avalon Hill
- Settlers of Catan
- Munchkin + expansions (card game)
- Other things I know I'm forgetting :/

I'm drawing a lot of blanks right now, unfortunately, but they're almost always strategy games. It's usually just plain old Risk though, but we wouldn't play it if it wasn't fun. I love how politics matter in board games like this; how you have to play the other players as well as the actual game itself. For my group, this means lots of taunts, threats, and reckless displays of bravado. Great times.

My one complaint is that I have thus far not been able to experience Diplomacy, supposedly the greatest of them all. I picked up a used copy from the '70s at a local hobby shop a few years ago, but I still haven't been able to convince people to learn the rules, much less set aside an entire day for it. Maybe someday...

EDIT: I will not be satisfied until another person posts here. I know there are more of you out there somewhere.
