but isnt the character design in final fantasy more to do with the japanese influence from anime art styles?
its true many games try to make use of an attractive character(s) to sell themselves - most suck, but if the character isnt really defined to much by the plot as a non attractive character and its deemed that a (usually) female character will help sell a few more copies then its not really an issue appart from marketing.
so yes sex sells, always will but i wouldnt say that just because final fantasy has a female cast that its just a gimmic to sell more. square know better than that.
