Yeah, that's true. However, Wind Waker alone did not provide all the evidence needed to establish the split timeline theory, which TP did. Even though the split timeline was popular before TP, I for one saw a big difference before and after.

I agree with your general idea, but I honestly can't see this doing any harm. And besides, it was a good way to get the reader interested, which is far more important in the long run.
