Re: Newbie's Guide to Theorizing

DR;TL

No seriously, this is a good idea. It's not very neatly organized but serves it's purpose. Now, it's time to get nitpicky.

It would seem like an easy task at first. But for every questioned answered, ten additional questions take its place. Nowadays though, Eiji Aonuma, the man in charge of the series, has made it all a little bit easier by releasing Twilight Princess. This game seems innocent enough at first, but it actually ties all the 3D games together, making it easier to place the other games.

What did TP explain, how does it link the 3D games together? Those are questions that can all be answered with two words. Split Timeline.
The split timeline was real right after the release of TWW. The reason why the subject was so hotly debated among the community (especially after TWW) was that there was no decisive proof provided in English. TP alone did not make the timeline split since it was already split. Us western gamers just realized that three years too late because someone stumbled upon a certain interview around the time of TP's release.

Multiple Universes being created when something alters the past is the best solution if you want to avoid the Grandfather paradox.
Every single attempt at explaining the functionality of time travel in the Zelda universe has failed due to the fact that it does not follow any predetermined logic. Why? Because it's a game play element.

it seems the Stalfos (the skeleton guy who teaches you sword skills) in Twilight Princess is Link from Ocarina of Time. Spooky, isn’t it?
It's possible, yes, but cannot be used as evidence as it is an entirely debatable theory. Since this is a pinned topic and a guide, it would be wise not to show such open and one sided support for such theories.

The Master Sword can be obtained in the Oracle games. But it’s optional; you don’t need it at all. So do we have to assume that the Oracles must come before ALttP (because of the Master Sword sleeps forever quote)? Some say yes, some say no. It’s hard to decide what’s an Easter Egg, and what’s canon. So be on your guard.
Better yet, it wouldn't make any sense for the Master Sword to be a canonical element (in the Oracles) seeing as it has mysteriously appears in both Holodrum and Labrynna as a bonus sword that has no impact on the storyline what so ever.
