A large jug of water sat on a stand in the middle of the stage. Kric, who was barely paying any attention to the task at hand, stuck both metal hands into the jug. The crowd looked at this, and then at the circle scratched into the surface of the wooden floor that began to glow an azure blue. A blood like ribbon of liquid seemingly dropped from the alchemists fingers, and then suddenly exploded, turning the water into wine. Unfortunately, due to his carelessness, the glass jug exploded as well, coating him in a sticky layer of liquid and several shards of glass. The crowd roared in laughter, obviously thinking it was part of the show, while Kric grimaced and removed a piece of glass from his shoulder blade.

Think of the money…just, think of the money and this’ll all be worth it…

The alchemist repeated the thought over and over, determined to get paid for this claptrap of a show.

“I’ll be back in a few minutes folks, just need to prepare for the final transmutation of the show!” he shouted, a fake smile covering his boredom. He stalked offstage, several people passing him by, some with mops, others carrying a large chunk of stone for the next transmute. The finisher, stone into diamond, would be his final and probably most spectacular feat. He intended to create masterpiece that would root itself to the ground, and hopefully replace the town square as the execution block. A shiver went down his spine as he thought of it. This town still had the gruesome death penalty. Sure, death by firing squad was bad, but at least it was quick and relatively painless after the first second.

“Sir, the stage is ready for the finale.”
