It is definately an alternate world, no question about that taking into consideration the methods of getting there and the circumstances. but it's defnately NOT a mirror. It had a lot of things Hyrule didn't and you have to accept that some of the connections were just due to limited polygon models and time.

I think it could've been a really screwed up dream-ish manifestation of a lot of things and everything was similar but more trippy because of that.

Navi? I think tatl was a manifestation of that. I think Link found Navi, but only in himself. In literal speaking though, it would've been impossible to find Navi physically there either due to it being illusion or alternate world.
