Name: Taen (Tay-Ehn) Rashida
Age: 21
Race: Elf
Gender: Male
Hair: Long, blond hair. Straight and runs to the back of his neck resting just above his shoulders.
Eyes: Gold
Weight: 140 pounds (roughly)
Height: 5 feet and 7 inches
Weapon: Two curved Chinese-style broadswords, with inscribed lines and circles along the steel blade. Taen obtained this while fighting through a great maze/temple where he entered a spirit realm and first met the dragons. The dragon’s spirits are tied strongly to the blade, and are what allows Taen use of their powers. They are considered dual swords, two parts of one whole. They share the same sheath on Taen’s back, and have curved handles (for better gripping) and two black and red cloths woven to the end of it.

Armor: none
Magic: Taen has the ability to summon the powers of the eight spirit dragons of Auruden. Their magic spans over shadow and light magic to elemental magic as well. They each have teachings and philosophies that aid in battle and everyday life. It is all these things combined in one that will make Taen a strong person.

Strengths: Taen is very swift and deadly with his blows when he needs to be. He doesn’t hold back and can block most attacks. He has a great resistance to pain and can fight through a broken wrist or sprained ankle, even when it weakens his fighting ability. He plans out his steps and thinks about possible outcomes before he strikes.
Taen uses his magic to the best of his ability. He considers the easiest way to hit his opponent and which form of magic would be most useful at the moment. He trusts and confides in the dragons and has a close bond with them.
Weakness: Taen is fast with attacks, but slow in actual movement. So, he can’t parry or dodge too well. He can also be knocked down pretty easily, allowing for the enemy to unleash a number of attacks. His strength is little so he can be overpowered easily by a well-built opponent.
Taen can sometimes lose focus in the heat of battle and zone out while trying to make plans. He focuses on his blades and magic, so he is very inexperienced in hand to hand combat.
Taen’s summoning is his greatest strength, and yet his greatest weakness. Magic takes energy, and he can easily exhaust himself in the middle of a fight by using it too much. If he is disarmed, he won’t be able to use his magic, as the swords must be on him, whether in a sheath on his back or in his hands.
Personality: Taen is a pretty easy-going guy. He’s real positive and makes jokes about things all the time. He sees fighting almost as a game. He’s very persistent in the heat of battle and doesn’t give up easily. He studies his foe to understand his or her strength and weaknesses. He never underestimates his enemy and will flee if needed.
Despite his humorous nature, Taen can be very serious. He doesn’t let anyone influence a choice he makes and will boldly do as he feels. His serious demeanor could be mistaken to rudeness or arrogance, which it sometimes is.
Taen is also very flirtatious. When he sees a girl, he goes after her with everything. Like in battle, he won’t give up on a girl very easily. Unless a more interesting girl comes along.

History: Taen’s story begins with his parents, when an ancient tribe thought to be long dead attacked the castle of Auruden. His father, Terrin, told his mother, Selene, to run while he stayed and protected his country. She fled with one of her personal guards.
Weeks passed. She found out that she was pregnant one evening. She knew that she’d have to find a home if she ever wanted to raise a child. So, she went to a small village. It wouldn’t be her permanent home, but she would be able to give birth in an actual home, with someone to help her. She kept a diary and wrote in it almost every day.
It didn’t go as she planned.
Another tribe attacked and destroyed the village. Her guard was killed along with them. She hid herself and came out when it was safe.
There was no one out. Everyone was dead.
She started out again the next morning, feeling desolate and alone. She came to a great city that was five miles from one side to the other.
They accepted her at first. She learned about them and their God, who promised redemption for people’s sins and salvation for eternity. They seemed nice at first. They made her feel… happy. But when they found out she was pregnant, and saw that there was no father, they accused her of adultery. She tried to explain, but they wouldn’t listen.
She called them arrogant and bigoted. Thus, the pope sentenced her to be beheaded. But the people of the city knew they wouldn’t kill her still being pregnant. So, they waited until she gave birth, gave her one week with her baby, and then they would sentence her.
The last night was over before it even began. She had named him Taen, meaning trust in her language. She shed a tear, and kissed his forehead. That was the last time Taen would see his mother, and he wouldn’t even be able to remember it.
Taen was given to a family of nobles, who hoped they could raise him so he could atone for his mother’s ‘sin’. They replaced his last name with a false name, which he has forgotten.
Years passed. He was taught fighting from when he was 12. He noticed a flaw in their fighting. All the duels looked as if they were aiming for each other’s sword, rather than looking for any specific weak point.
When he was 16, the pope chose him to be the next leader of the city’s church. But he didn’t agree with their teachings. He didn’t like that they were judgmental, that anyone who didn’t believe was sentenced to hell and that forgiveness was so limited. He learned about their Law, which told the people living there how to live out ever aspect of their life. The food they ate, the clothes they wore, and the jobs they worked. He hated how sex was seen only for reproduction and could not be a form of pleasure, and how they believed that were the only race that could be saved. (They didn’t know he or his mom were an elf)
He didn’t like it. For the three years he was under the pope’s tutelage, he learned more and more about their religion, which he grew to hate more and more. On the day of his induction, he went into the pope’s study, took the books of law, and set them aflame. The church officials came in, seeing him laughing in front of the smoke and fire.
They bound and chained him and threw him into a cell. When he stood trail, they spoke of his mother, saying how she was wicked. Taen shook his head in disgust, and cursed their names.
He was to be sentenced to death for this.
As he stood out there, in the crowd, ready to be beheaded, he yelled out, loud enough for everyone to hear “This is what you call love?”
They set his head onto the stone. The blade rose.
Silence.
He looked up and around. The people were grabbing their skulls and running around, screaming. A voice spoke to him.
“Run…”
He escaped the city and went out to the wall, the outermost part of the city. There he walked around, and he found a box wrapped in paper. In the box was a diary. It was his mother’s. Inside of it, he learned the truth. Most of the early entries were in a language he did not understand. But the last three he understood.
His mother had escaped as he had, and left this diary as a memento, hoping that he would find it. She explained how he was from the land of Auruden, and he was an elf. How she had to run away and was trailed for a crime she had been wrongfully accused of: being pregnant without a father.
He found his true name in there as well: Taen Rashida. He was to be the next dragon summoner, and would seek out their spirits.
He took the book with him, sealed it in a bag. He traveled for days and came to a town, where he bought himself a decent sword. He stayed there the night and headed off.
He eventually came to a place where he fell down a hole and met a demon named Celia.
They traveled together through the underground cave until they came to a great temple, hidden from the world on top of a mountain. They fought many enemies and tested their skills and found themselves in the center of it. This was where Taen was taken to a spiritual realm, where he finally met the dragons. He was given two swords and was taken to the final exit.
Taen and Celia said their goodbyes, and she departed with his old sword and pleasant memories.
Two years passed. He traveled the lands and honed his skills, his teachers being the dragons themselves.
One day, he hopes to return to the city that held him and his mother, and bring judgment upon them. He hopes to see Auruden, and free the country from the clutches of the enemy.
All this shall come with time.
