OoC: This is my first character fic, please keep all comments to a pm until I say otherwise. This fic will totally reform my only character, Keldar.

BiC:The sun reached down its golden hands and shook me awake. All I cared about at that moment was getting breakfast. Had I known what would soon happen to me, I would have slept in. I walked down the stairs and waved hello the kind innkeeper. The innkeeper appeared to be a woman of about forty, she had a smile on her face as she waved back and handed me a tray of eggs. Her thick, powerful hands and arms could carry over ten trays at one time.

I grinned as I ate my eggs, thinking how much better they taste when they’re free. That is what I did in every town I come to; I make friends with the innkeeper and as a result get free food. I rely on my friendliness to get out of paying because of my almost complete lack of money.

“How much will I have to pay for this lovely visit?” I asked, knowing the answer.

“For you, it’s free,” the innkeeper replied as she gathered my tray.

“Thank you,” I said as I walked outside of the inn and resumed my travels.

I walked from the village to the forest and began a leisurely stroll through its dense plant life. Light played games with the vibrant yellows and oranges of the forest thinning leaves. The forest floor was almost completely covered in the autumn foliage. I walked for hours, completely lost in the beauty and majesty of the forest.

A light rustling sound entered my ears; I turned around and felt a sharp pain in the back of my head. As my world went dark I heard muffled voices mocking me and saw large figures looming over me.

“You’re ours now,” I heard before I passed out.

I woke up in a dark and dismal dungeon. My attackers stood outside of my cell, their evil eyes glinting in the dim candle light on that guard’s desk.

“Hello there,” said one of my attackers, the man wore a dark robe with the hood drawn up over his face.

“Where am I? What did you do to me?” I asked.

“You are in the dungeon of the Guild of Shadows. All we did was knock you out, but what you felt then will be nothing compared to what we are about to do to you,” the second attacker replied with a wicked grin as the door to my tiny cell opened up and the two stepped in, revealing a third man standing behind them. That man was holding a large syringe full of a sinister looking black liquid.

“Don’t worry, the sting will only last a few seconds, but the pain will last for hours,” the man with the syringe said to me as the other attackers held me against the wall.

The needle entered my skin and the mysterious liquid was injected into my body. I watched as the men left and the gate shut behind them, leaving me alone in the dark.

“The drug will cause you incredible pain for the next twenty-four hours, but it won’t begin to affect your body for another seventy-two,” the man’s voice echoed throughout the dungeon as I began to feel the first of many waves of mind numbing pain.

All night I screamed in agony as the feeling of knives being thrust into my head and body flooded my senses. I beat my fists against the wall and clawed at my face and body, trying to find the source of the horrible pain. My blood fell to the ground and mixed with my tears of pain in the center of the cell.

Finally it was over, the pain subsided into a dull throbbing and I immediately fell asleep in the cot provided for me in my cell. My dreams were filled dark creatures raiding villages and twisting the shadows into violent forms, using them to kill innocent civilians. I watched in horror as thousands died and the creatures danced in blood, laughing like small children.

OoC: So basically the drug will alter Keldar's genetic structure over the next few posts. If you have any comments or suggestions, please pm me.
