Sure at the end of TP Ganon exclaims before dying "The future of Hyrule will be written in blood" or something along those lines but we still have no idea how he managed to escape and cause Hyrule to flood. Maybe Nintendo will leave it open for fans to speculate on or maybe there is something we have missed or is it just a catastrophic event that it needs no real backstory to it. What do we all think?
Considering Twilight Princess occurs at the same time as The Wind Waker does, just in separate timelines, I doubt the sequels to Twilight Princess have anything to do with it...

There could be several reasons why a Hero failed to appear, but the cause of the flood is stated- the Goddesses flooded Hyrule to wipe out Ganondorf.

I doubt they'd make a game about it (the Hero never appeared, so he couldn't just show up and fail), but I would like to hear, perhaps as backstory to another game, about why there was no Hero- I'm guessing he was dead.
