Well, you thought correctly. However, The Kokiri Tunic and Zora Tunic actually appear in nearly every Zelda game, unlike the magic armor.
Also, this piece of armore was simply being sold in a regular store. Well, not exactly 'regular'. More of a top notch shop for rich people, but incedentally,
