No poll because there's no way in hell I even want to think about the casual fan trying to read this beast. I don't even want to read it. That said, I very much appreciate that you read and enjoyed it.

And you're very right about the point 2 woes. That was what I ought to have said.

And, yes, alternate histories, but notice that I cover my own ass: "It is not a necessary property of alternate histories to be permanent; that is, they could be erased under certain circumstances, as opposed to a split timeline being created." Basically, I view "alternate histories", in a "parallel world" sense, as possible histories whose courses have been "actualized" (that is, carried out); one could interpret time travel in Majora's Mask as causing a number of split timelines, or as effectively "de-actualizing" those possible histories, leaving us with only the final product. Designating time travel in Majora's Mask as involving alternate histories need not suggest that all of those histories become permanent alternate realities.
