Are people still into this? Donkey Kong is just a bunch of childhood memories, he's not needed anymore. Gosh, you just need to take a look back at the past to see that his main merit has no potential, of expanding on the Wii. You know what I'm talking about. That's right! Graphics.
The reason to Donkey Kong's rise to popularity in the nineties was it's impressive graphics.
I'm sure Nintendo could do a great game out of it, but what's the point when they've got the Mario series?

The more stuff to do in a game would keep a gamer playing for hours, instead of a simple, "Start to finish" game. Of course, not all of it is rewarding, but there are a couple of great rewards to be found in the game. Oblivion is another good example of having plenty of stuff to do.

I think that's quite naive. Collectibles were the lens flare of the gaming industry, it was not the product of ambition but the N64's biggest weakness: cartridges. Besides it seems oppinion has changed quite a bit. Donkey Kong 64 from what I've seen in recent years is remembered as the collectibles hell. And I agree, talk about desperate way to drag out on a games lifespan.
