~Lysis' Characters~
Name: Kartaikian, otherwise known as Stormcloud.
Age: Around 18 years of age.
Race: Basically human, but from a different universe with slightly different traits.
Gender: Male.
Hair: Gray and messy. A mop of hair that covers his ears and forehead, and yes, gray.
Eyes: Gray. See, there's a bit of a theme here.
Weight: Just about 160 lbs, but they don't have scales where he comes from.
Height: Just about 6 feet tall.
Weapons: A greenish/black longsword, with a crack that runs down the middle of the blade. The metal used to make the blade is unknown, and unlike any other metal. The metal does not melt at super high temperatures, it does not break or bend or dent or chip no matter how hard it seems to get hit. In fact, if the person holding the blade were to, say, shove the blade into the spokes of a moving train wheel, it would be more likley that his arm be torn off and the wheel stop moving then for the blade to break. This blade is called Soulsplitter, and it's enchanted with a curse. The curse originally took Kartaikian by surprise, and split his entire soul into two parts. Hence he became two people instead of just one. It took him many long years of questing in order to conquer the curse and become whole again. He can now use the curse at will in order to separate himself in two, so as to attack from two places at once. This is useful for fighting groups of enemies, where he would otherwise be surrounded or flanked, or for fighting large enemies that never show their weak side.
Kartaikian also has a composite recurved bow and many steel tipped barbed arrows, with gray feathers. At any given time he may also have a knife or other small weapon, but nothing big enough to be worth mentioning.
Armor: Kartaikian wears a hauberk of black chainmail under his other clothing. Over his chainmail he wears simple hard leather armor, and then over that he wears his normal gray clothing. This is usually enough to fend off most slashing attacks, but still leaves him vulnerable to powerful stabbing attacks. He doesn't wear a helm, but he does have a sheild.
His sheild is a small round sheild, made of wood in order to remain light enough to carry, but plated in metal for protection. The metal coating is black, but a shiny steel rhombus (diamond-shape) is inset into the middle of the sheild. In the middle of the rhombus is a deadly metal spike, for sheild bashing.
Strengths: Kartaikian is exceptionally skilled in both swordplay and archery, and can do both from horseback. He is also a skilled adventurer and can last many days without food or water, and not be weakened. He can run fast and jump high, and his strong arms enable him to climb walls, ropes, and whatnot without his legs if necessary. He is also strong-minded and strong-willed, and will not stop until he's met his goal. Also, his Soulsplitting ability can be concidered a strength.
Weaknesses: Kartaikian is not very empathetic and cannot sense the feelings, emotions, or thoughts of people around him unless they're very strong. He also has very little resistance to magical attacks. Sometimes he tends to get frustrated when he can't solve something. Also, he occasionally rushes into action before thinking, which can be both a good thing, or a drastically bad thing. The many things he carries on his back (sheild, backpack, quiver, bow, etc.) tend to slow him down, so he sometimes puts these items on his horse where they're not in his immediate grasp. While he is separated in two via Soulsplitter, each half of him is half as strong as normal.
Techniques/Magic: Soulsplitter, the mystic cursed longsword. Given 5 to 10 seconds to concentrate and activate the curse, Kartaikian can separate his soul and body into two equal parts. Both bodies will look exactly like Kartaikian, only somewhat slimmer and smaller. One will be dressed completely in black (instead of gray) and the other completely in white (instead of gray) including the hair (but the eyes will remain exactly the same, gray.) The other minimal differences are that instead of being ambidextrous, one (the black colored one) is right handed and the other (the white colored one) is left handed.
Each copy will have half of the longsword, which literally splits down the center along the crack. Hence the blade itself is already at a disadvantage, being smaller and only having one sharpened edge. Each half of Kartaikian will be less strong as the whole Kartaikian, with less resistance to all forms of attack (except magical attacks against the mind, as Kartaikian's mind is still whole), less endurance, and less energy. He will still be just as strong-minded and strong-willed because his mind is not separated between the halves, but instead shared.
The advantages are the fact that he can attack from two places at once, making it easier to take down pretty much any kind of enemy. He can attack from various angles at once, or surround a single enemy, or make it easier to attack groups of multiple enemies who would otherwise have him surrounded. In about twice as much time as it takes him to separate, he can join himself together again.
The separation process is very painful, but he's use to it by now. This sometimes keeps him from using it more than once in the same battle. However, it takes no energy or skill, and cannot be done wrong. This is because it's the curses natural posistion to be active, and hence it actually takes much more energy to undo the curse than to activate it.
Appearance: The first thing anyone notices is the color of his clothing. He is dressed exclusively in gray, his tunic, cloak, and trousers, to match his gray hair and eyes. He wears a black leather backpack to store his various items and such, and strapped to his pack is his quiver and bow. At his black leather belt he carries his blade, Soulsplitter, sheathed in its strange black metal scabbard at Kartaikian's left (Kartaikian can use his sword and bow with either hand however.) As is normal for his race, his ears are slightly pointed (not as much as elves ears though) and he is fairly tall and thin. His horse, which goes by the name Stormrider, is a very large warhorse and is as gray as Kartaikian.
Personality: Kartaikian usually appears to be emotionless, as he normally hides his emotion. This makes it hard for people to tell what he's thinking. He's not very empathetic, and hence cannot read the emotions of other people. He acts cold and unfriendly at times (most times) since he doesn't show emotion (including happiness) but is good at heart. Although he's generally uncaring of anything that doesn't immediatly effect him, he cannot stand for evil and would put a stop to any kind of mistreatment or unreasonable harm to other people. He travels the world, never settling anywhere. He never talks about his past, his feelings, or what he's thinking (in fact, he generally doesn't talk much at all) and is rather avoidant of people in general. He's seen the evils people are cabable of, and doesn't trust anyone. He prefers to be alone, clearly, and avoids teamwork for any reason, unless absolutely necessary or unavoidable.
Biography: Read the whole biography, as it progresses, here.
Long ago, when Kartaikian was about 15, someone burned down half of Kartaikain's hometown, killing many of his friends, and his grandfather, whom he lived with. His grandfather had been his closest and only real relative, a better father to Kartaikian than his real father. His real father hardly ever spent any time with Kartaikian, simply naming him and leaving him with his grandfather. He showed up every year or so for long enough to give Kartaikian's grandfather some money (since he didn't work) and then leave.
After the arson, Kartaikian had nowhere to really live and no one to run too, so he simply ran away. As he was still young, the arson had helped with his general antisocial attitude. He long explored the world, never really settling. On one quest he traveled to the ruins of an ancient civilization on the idea that a powerful artifact lay hidden there; a sword that would double the strength and power of its bearer. His father warned him of the artifact, saying many things about the unreliability of myths and magic, but he ignored him and found the longsword. The moment he touched the blade he was cursed, and it split his soul into two parts. For a very long time he was stuck like this, one person in two bodies. Soon he got somewhat used to it, but it was still a bit of a hinderance.
One day though, through a quest that is still yet to be written, Kartaikian had to conquer the curse in order to save his father, whom although he seemed to hate on the outside, he truly still loved on the inside. Having conquered the curse through events yet unknown, he was able to use it at will. Thus he could rend himself in two at any random moment he so wished, and surprise his opponent (or opponents) by attacking from two places at once. It took a while to truly master this, and the rending process still hurts quite a bit, but it takes almost no energy or skill to do, as it's the natural form of the curse.

Name: Apokalypsis, Apollyon's Veil [A-POK-AL-YPS-IS]
Age: Immortal
Race: Black Elf
Gender: Male
Hair: Black, not shiny, shoulder length and down to the eyes in front.
Eyes: Irises usually black, but red when possessed by Apollyon.
Weight: No more than 150 lbs., not counting weapons and armor.
Height: No more than 6 ft. 1 in.
Weapons: The Halberd of Destruction, and the Black Scales. The Halberd of Destruction was granted to Apokalypsis by Apollyon. It is made from a dark black metal, and has a dark purple crystal embedded near the blade on both sides. It has the ability to affect and harm souls, striking them with fear, or clouding them with darkness. The Black Scales were made by Apokalypsis himself, formed from his battle axes and endowed with his elemental powers. They are also gifted with some demonic power, granted by Apollyon. The Black Scales are two one-hand single-bladed battle axes made from a black/gray metal. They are named Nikao and Sphazo. Nikao represents War and Conquest, and has a red crystal of Fire (representing war) on one side and a white crystal of Water (representing conquest) on the other. With Nikao, Apokalypsis can manipulate water and fire using his elemental powers. Using the demonic power granted in Nikao, Apokalypsis can cause feelings of anger and rage (War) and can weaken opposition (Conquest.) Sphazo represents Famine and Plague and has a black crystal of Stone (famine) on one side and a green crystal of Electricity (plague) on the other. With Sphazo, Apokalypsis can manipulate stone and electricity using his elemental powers. Using Sphazo's demonic power, Apokalypsis can drain energy from his opposition (Famine) and cause pestilence (Plague.) He also has a whip that he generally doesn't use as a weapon, but in driving his horse.
Armor: A black brigandine, sewn with red thread. Slightly enchanted with darkness, but not invincible.
Strengths: Power over elements and darkness. Demonic power. Near invincible to elemental/dark magic. Cannot drown unless unconscious. Scarcely needs food and water. Can see clearly whilst lacking light. Especially strong while in the presence of great evil and darkness, and can be fully possessed by Apollyon for ultimate strength. Also, he is proficient in the use of bladed weapons and polearms.
Weaknesses: Extremely frail to light/white magic. Can technically be killed with any sort of weapon, or by any blunt or sharp instrument. Much of Apokalypsis's power is within his weapons, so without them he is devastatingly weaker. Especially weak in the presence of great goodness and light. Would never be caught out in the light of day without his heavy cloak covering every part of his body, and thus wouldn't be able to make any swift or skilled movements in the daylight. General magic (black/dark magic) uses up energy, elemental magic uses up even more energy, and special magic (the Halberd and the Scales) use up a lot of energy. Thus, Apokalypsis must be careful that he doesn't use magic too often.
Skills/Magic: Elemental magic, power over all four elements (Fire, Water, Stone, and Electricity; the four elements as listed by the Elves of Apokalypsis's time/world) especially when channeled through the Black Scales. Standard black magic and dark magic (magic over darkness) especially when channeled through the Halberd of Destruction. With the Halberd comes power over souls, granting the ability to harm or strike fear into any creature with a soul (or sometimes just a mind), or to cloud souls with darkness (having the general affect of dampening goodness and will, or causing confusion) and being able to harm the intangible, via spirit. With the Scales comes power over what Apollyon calls the Four Horsemen (Conquest, War, Famine, and Plague) who's abilities are as described above (Conquest: causes feelings of defeat and uselessness. War: causes feelings of anger, hate, and rage. Famine: drains energy and dehydrates. Plague: causes sickness and pestilence.)
Appearance: Apokalypsis generally looks like a dark elf who's never seen the Sun, and is malnourished. He is tall and thin (thinner, even, then natural due to malnourishment) and has pointed ears, all what you'd expect from an elf. He has dark black lackluster hair, which grows down to his shoulders and often covers much of his eyes. His skin is pale and grayish, and looks somewhat as you'd expect of someone who has spent thousands of years without the touch of Sunlight. His face is scarred with years worth of battle, and the occasional fatal blow. His dark eyes lack shine to them, and wouldn't be seen from under his hood any more than his face. He wears a black (except where the seams are sewn, in red) brigandine (armor composed of fabric with plates of metal riveted onto the inside.) He wears the Black Scales, which are each two feet long, at his belt; Nikao on his left, Sphazo at his right. Over all that he wears a black, with red seams again, hooded mantle, which covers his entire body. He has another, looser and buckleless red belt to hold the mantle closed, and a red shoulder strap which holds his Halberd, which is about 5 and a half feet long, on his back. His mantle is full of pockets with which he holds various items. He rides a tall black warhorse, named Melas. Melas has no saddle or reins, and only follows the command of Apokalypsis.
Personality: Apokalypsis is almost pure evil. Once he lusted power, but when he got it he eventually tired of it. Then he resorted to lusting destruction, but that soon lost its desirability when it brought him nothing of use. Now his sole goal is destroying all that is good, and bringing darkness to cover all worlds. He has the demons of the Underworld on his side, and the angels of the Overworld against him. He lives for himself, and himself alone (aside from following the occasional orders from Apollyon, which he detests in secret) and hates to take orders, or be told what to do, even from superiors. Unlike Apollyon, he doesn't enjoy inflicting useless pain and suffering (although he doesn't have anything against it either) unless it benefits him somehow, even if only slightly (he won't expend extra energy just to cause pain, suffering, or destruction, usually...) He is strategic, and doesn't let anger get the best of him (usually.) He does not fear death, because it no longer holds any power over him.
Biography: Many years ago, a great battle took place, between the great Light Elves and the evil Dark Elves. Although the Dark Elves were strong in number, the Light Elves were innumerable. In attempts to aid the Dark Elves to victory, the leader of the Dark Elf army commanded their greatest sorcerers and summoners to raise a demon from the underworld. It took many hours (and much blood was sacrificed) but eventually they succeeded in summoning a demon, who immediately killed all but one of the sorcerers, and possessed the body of the last one. To the fear of the Dark Elf army's leader, the demon summoned was the Great Demon Lord Apollyon. Luckily though, he wasn't angry. In fact, he had allowed himself to be summoned. The Dark Elves had caught the favor of the demon lord Apollyon, and he wished to bring them to victory. In fact, he had a clever plan (and a secret agenda...) in place. While the battle raged on, Apollyon watched from the sidelines, occasionally enchanting the Dark Elf forces with useful magic, and ravaging the Light Elf forces with destructive magic. Finally, though, Apollyon saw the elf he was looking for. The Light Elf army's right hand man, who was taking on three Dark Elves with his two battle axes. Apollyon commanded that the elf be brought up to him, alive. After eleven Dark Elves fell at the Light Elf's hand (and his exceptional elemental magic) he was finally knocked out, and dragged up to Apollyon.
When the elf had recovered, Apollyon took on his true form, leaving the body of the elf sorcerer. His true form was so evil, that even the Dark Elves couldn't stand to look directly at him, and a true description is yet to be found. Then, Apollyon spoke to the Light Elf. He spoke of power, which he knew the elf had always wanted. He told the elf about all the power he could have. About how easy it would be. He told the elf about how everything he did would be forgotten once he'd died. Sure, elves were immortal, but they could still be killed, and eventually departed from the world. He told the elf how he could have eternal life, how death would have no power over him. How he could have power over death. Soon the elf was convinced, and asked how he could have this power. Apollyon was pleased, for everything was going according to plan. He'd chosen this elf for two reasons: one, he knew that this elf was right for what he wanted to use him for and easy to manipulate, and two, he was the only one who could get close to the Light Elf army's leader. Actually, that last part was just a convenient coincidence.
Apollyon told the elf what to do. So, the elf went back to his camp, all the way to the main tent, where the army's leader and his right-hand man (him) lived. The Light Elf army's leader was there, working out strategies and such. He asked his right-hand man why he was back at the camp, but he didn't answer. Instead he drew his battle-axe, and put an end to the army's leader. Instantly guards came, and attacked the elf, who killed many of them, until they overpowered him...and then he died.
As his soul was raised (exceptionally slow, if he remembered correctly) to the Overworld, where he would be judged, the elf was at first devastated that he'd died. Apollyon had failed him. Then he remembered the next step (yes, there was a next step after death...) Before judgment, and before he could be accepted into the Overworld, the elf made what would normally be an eternally condemning decision. He denied his Light. The Light, the very soul-power that makes Light Elves who they are, is what differentiates the Light Elves from the Dark Elves. Without the Light, no elf is able to enter the Overworld. And so he fell...down...to condemnation.
He fell into darkness. Pain. Misery. He wanted to curl up in the fetal position and die, but as he curled up he remembered that he was already dead. He felt anger, hate, sadness, every negative feeling possible. He hated Apollyon, for tricking him into this Blackness. Then, he saw a light, as fire.
Before him stood, wreathed in flame, and causing a tenfold increase in most of the negative feelings he felt, the Great Demon Lord Apollyon. He held out his hand and spoke, in his darkest voice, "Death no longer has hold over you! Do not despair. Follow me, and be my Hand on the Earth. You shall have power, and help me to destroy the world. We together shall eclipse the Universe with Eternal Blackness, and you will be the only thing that stands in front of my power. Where you go, I shall soon follow. What you devastate, I shall soon destroy. You will be an apocalypse, ever revealing my presence. A thin veil between the world, and myself.
"I shall call you Apokalypsis, which means Revelation, for you are a revelation to my power. You are my Veil." With that, Apollyon granted the now Apokalypsis with his christening power, a foul darkness that flowed through his veins. Then he crafted a tool of destruction, simply calling it the Halberd of Destruction, an instrument designed to channel Apollyon's power into the souls of many. He also granted a dark energy into Apokalypsis's battle-axes, granting him the power over what Apollyon called the Four Horsemen; four black energies designed for utter destruction.
Finally, he gave Apokalypsis that which he'd promise. His power over death. With a loud cry, and a bright flash, Apollyon tore through the Great Division, and through it passed Apokalypsis. He awoke on the floor of the tent, soaking in his own blood. His head wound, a deep gash to the forehead by a heavy blade, had healed. It left a scar though. He got of the ground, in time to see the Halberd materialize in front of him. He took it in his hand, and could feel the power flow through it; so much so, he almost dropped it and cried out when he touched it.
More Elven guards, who'd come to analyze the situation, saw him, and fled in fear. However, they soon returned, with backup. Apokalypsis, now soaked mentally and soulfully in darkness, killed them all using only the Halberd. Then he released a shockwave of darkness, devastating and killing everyone within 500 ft. of the tent, leaving only himself in a crater of blackened earth.
He walked off across the battlefield, onto wherever Destruction led him.
