Re: Character List

Might as well put 'em all here....

Soledad
----------------------

Name: Soledad Marquis

Age: 21

Race: Human

Sex: Male

Hair:Black hair, spiked up so it stays out of his eyes

Eyes: Dark brown eyes

Weight: 155 lbs

Height: 6 ft. 1 in.

Weapon: A short sword with no special powers. He also carries a dagger with a magical jewel in the hilt that gives him the power to call it back to him. The hilt is gold and the short blade is serrated. The further away it is, the more he must concentrate to call it. Not only can he call it back, but he can also control its movement in the air.

UPGRADE: A ruby found in a treasure cove on The Island of Waterfalls gives the dagger the ability to drain energy from any living thing that touches the blade and gives it to whatever touches the ruby next. This means that it can even drain Soledad, and it can give energy to whoever touches it first, Soledad or not.

Armor: A simple light chain mail shirt. He avoids heavy burdens in order to stay quick and silent.

Strengths: He was found to be skilled at sneaking and thieving, so he has taken the job of an assasin. He is great at hiding in the shadows, so he usually only goes out at night.

Weakness: Since he's not usually out in sunlight, his skin is pale and he can be stunned by a bright light. He is usually weaker during the day. He is also no good at hand-to-hand combat because he's not too strong.

Skills/Magic: Has the ability to cloak himself, making him invisible to even the well-trained eye. This works better in shadow, for in light he runs the possibility of being seen. In direct light his form appears as a shimmering version of whatever is behind him.

Appearance: He can usually be found dressed in a black shirt, dark green pants and some black shoes. His shirt and pants have no design, but his shoes have magical symbols to imbue them with the power to help him stay silent and quick. He usually carries a sack on his belt to keep healing herbs and other useful items. His sword sheath is across his back and his dagger is kept out of sight most of the time at his waist. It is usually concealed by the a heavy black cloak that he usually wears over everything. In most circumstances, the hood is found pulled up, covering his face as the cloak hides his lean figure.

Personality: During battle he will kill, but only what/who he needs to. He values life and does not believe that it should be wasted by killing needlessly. If he is threatened he will only defend himself until his life is in danger. In everyday life he is stand-offish. He does not like to talk, and he will answer things with as little talking as possible. If he gets annoyed he will sometimes show his dagger to get them away. He's not mean, he just likes to be alone and contemplate the world.

Biography: He grew up in a large city with his parents and his older brother. It was a regular life, at the beginng. He always looked up to his brother, like any other small boy. He grew up in relative peace. His life was made simple by the fact that his parents had money. He lived comfortably all throughout his boyhood.

Soledad was a good boy, but his brother always got bored. When he got into his teens, he began experimenting with other kinds of fun. Eventually he fell into the wrong groups and when he started getting into bad things, Soledad followed in his footsteps. His brother managed to get major debts, and Soledad's parents became suspicious and cut off his money supply. That's when his brother turned to more illegal methods of acquiring money. When his skill in sneaking was found out, Soledad was exploited by his brother and his friends. They used him to get the things they wanted.

His life changed on one routine theft.

"Come on Soledad," his brother prodded. "Do it for me." That line always worked, and it succeeded this time as well.

"Alright," the young boy caved. Jumping quickly up a row of boxes, Soledad reached a high window and opened it with a small knife. Jumping down into the warehouse, he landed silenty and carefully, not tripping any alarms. Looking across the room, he noticed a master switch. Before moving, he kicked up dust all around him and revealed the trip wires all along the floor. Walking carefully, he easily made it over and disconnected the traps. Calling to his comrades, he opened the door to let them in. They charged in rowdily, ready to claim their spoils. In their eagerness they failed to be careful. Soledad had missed some traps and they were triggered quickly. Everyone dropped what they had and ran, trapping Soledad under a heavy dresser. Unable to move, he called out to his brother.

"Diego! Where are you Deigo?" His calls got no reply. His brother had failed him. When the authorities had arrived, they brought him to his parents. They were immensely ashamed, and sent him off to his aunt's. She lived in a far-off village, and Soledad looked to his brother for support. Once again, he was let down. Soledad never told, and his brother never confessed.

Off at his aunts, he trained himself in swordplay. A local sparring place gave him a place to train and learn. The open wilderness allowed him to hunt for himself and explore to his heart's content. But none of this gave him true joy; he always felt the stinging pain of his parents' rejection and his brother's betrayal. That never left him, even in the happiest of times.

His aunt was a kind woman, allowing him freedoms he could never have had in the city. He could go wherever he wanted and do whatever he wished as long as he was back by dark. He exercised this freedom every day, often choosing to go off into the wilderness and support himself for the day. This seclusion led to his later personality...and his special weapon.

One day while exploring in a cave near the beach, he saw something washed upon the shore. When he went closer to examine it, he found it was a treasure chest. He opened in eagerly, but saw nothing but a ratty, old map. When he brought it home to his aunt, she was surprised. When he asked her about it, she told him a story.

"Do you know why I'm widowed?" she asked him, the firelight from her hearth illuminating her face. Soledad nodded slowly. "It's because my husband, your uncle, went off to sea and never returned. You see," Soledad hung onto every word of her tale, "your uncle was a pirate." She began to laugh, and Soledad dismissed it as a tale.

A few weeks later, he noticed the map on his desk. After examining it closely for the first time, he noticed landmarks from around the area. Realizing that it was more than just a story, he followed it eagerly to the "X". When he reached the spot, he dug. After more than a day of digging and resting, he was just about to give up when his shovel hit something hard in the ground. Digging it out, he found another chest just like the one that had contained the map. Positive this was the treasure he knocked off the lock and opened it. Inside was no gleaming treasure, just a faded dagger and a small note.

"The Dagger of Destiny. May the wielder find all of its powers and use it for good. When you complete it...it shall be the Ultimate Power." Soledad didn't understand any of it, but just picked up the dagger and examined it closer.

It was nothing out of the ordinary. Just a golden hilt with a small, serrated blade attatched. Turning it over, he noticed a small blue jewel embedded in it. He attempted to pull it out, but it was set firmly. Giving up, he brought the chest and all to his aunt. When he showed it to her, she merely smiled and patted his head.

"Take care of that dagger," was her only comment.

When he got to the age of 19 he set off on his own to make an honest living. His aunt waved him off merrily and reminded him of his fate.

"That dagger holds secrets neither you or I can imagine. Your uncle staked his life on it. Take good care of it."

He could never hold a job, for his skills had only been developed in fighting and sneaking. For most of his life after his aunt he just kept moving from town to town. Finding no other alternative, he was approached by a shady character in a shady town. In a back alley, he got his first taste of his future. The man had an enemy, one he wanted dead. Soledad took the money and hardened himself for his kill. Unfortunately, something went horribly wrong. Forced to be on the run, Soledad continued doing the only thing he was good at. Now he travels around the world looking for another job so he can get some food and a warm bed to sleep in.

Rex
----------------------

I've been wanting to create a new character for a while now.

Name: Rex

Age: 19

Race: Human (No more demon)

Sex: Male

Hair: Black hair combed down in a bowl shape

Eyes: Brown

Weight: 250 lbs

Height: 5' 8"

Weapon: A sacred sword named Eliendel he inherited, it was given to him to help control his "outbreaks". After he defeated Scion, he keeps it with him as a memento. It reminds him of the family he once had, and how he defeated the beast that took it all away.

Armor: An enchanted armor that changes along with Rex, it is a light blue color and it covers his whole body except his face, hands, and feet. It isn't anything special, it can block weak (and I mean very weak) magic attacks, but it can handle most physical attacks.

Strengths: In his human form, he can use some of the demonic powers (see Skills/Magic) because Scion left his mark for all eternity. Since he's been training with Eliendel since he was very small, he is a master with it. He's also stronger than most normal men, so his attacks pack a punch.

Weakness: His powers in his human form are pretty weak, and they take a lot out of him if he uses them too much. Since most of his skills are fire-related, he's also weak against water. He isn't good against long-range attackers, and he can hardly use any weapon other than a sword. Even with another sword, he isn't nearly as good as he is with Eliendel. Because his attacks are so strong, he isn't able to attack quickly.

Skills/Magic: Thanks to Scion's longtime possession of his body, Rex has retained the powers the demon used, only weaker.

Fury: This power allows him to increase his physical power, but he immediately loses control. He can't tell who or what he's attacking, he just does.

Fireball: He can create fire in his hands and throw it at someone. If fire is already available, he can use that. This is one of the powers he uses in human form. In either form, the power it uses depends on how big the fireball is and if he must create the fire. It will exhaust him quickly if there's no fire around for him to use.

Heal: He can heal minor wounds on himself and he's learning to use it on others. This is another power he uses while he's human. This only takes a small amount of energy because he can only heal small wounds.

Flame Shield: He can use flames to create a shield around him. This uses a lot of energy if there's no fire around. Rex can use it, but he hardly does because it will take up all his energy.

Appearance: He looks just like a normal human most of the time. Pretty average height, he doesn't stick out much in a crowd. He's muscular, but not so much to draw stares. He isn't fat, but he has girth because of his muscles. His face always betrays his intentions. If he's happy his eyes smile. But whenever he's deep in thought they reflect his mind's absence.

Personality: Normally a nice guy; very friendly and he loves to get to know people because he never wants to hurt anyone again. He assumes the best of everyone, no matter what they may look like. He hopes that someday his good deeds will drive the demon out.

He's a bit of a ladies' man, or tries to be. He'll move in on most women he meets. At the least, he likes to be close to girls, even just as friends. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is a bit of a romantic.

In battle, he is still lighthearted. He is always optimistic, no matter who he faces. He is a fierce fighter, even without his demon form. After battles he mourns for any who are dead. Everyone he kills, he gives a proper burial, and everyone he defeats he will try to comfort with a few parting words.

Biography: Rex grew up in a small village with a normal family. He had a younger sister that he always protected from anyone who would do her harm. He lived peacefully for the younger years of his life.

When he turned 15, his parents told him of his curse. Since the beginning of time a cunning demon named Scion had tricked humans with bargains of power or life. Each pact he made gave him more power, and each time the human who dealt with him died soon after.

Years ago, his ancestors made a pact with a mighty demon for ultimate power. They went off to try to rule the world, but they were quickly defeated because of the trickery of the ancient demon. The demon's name was Scion.

Scion knew he was soon to be parting the mortal realm to be thrust into the underworld, so when he made that pact with Rex's ancestors he had them promise him one of their children. They obeyed, and he inhabited the child's body, not always controlling but always there. That child escaped when the ancestors were destroyed, and he lived peacefully and had a family. Every third generation the demon would return to inhabit the firstborn of the family.

Eventually Rex's family caught on, and they sought for a way to prevent the demon from possessing their children. They went to a blacksmith who had the ability to make blessed weapons and pleaded him for something to destroy the demon with. Since Scion was an ancient being, he could not be destroyed. Instead the smith made a sacred sword, Eliendel, to hold back the demon's powers. Whoever wielded the sword could keep Scion at bay.

The family passed the sword on through the family, and then Rex's parents gave it to him. He trained to master the sword so he could control Scion, but unknown to him, it had lost some of its power over all the years.

A band of thieves famous across the nation stumbled onto their village while escaping from a heist. Most of the townspeople obeyed the thieves and they quickly took the village. The thieves took everything the little town had, including Eliendel. When they took the sacred sword, Rex's parents stood up and revolted. Just outside of the town, a battle erupted. Many of the thieves were killed and run off, but they eventually won in the end. Rex had participated in the battle, and lay on the ground slowly dying. Then a giant bird appeared in his vision.

"I...can save you" it whispered in a calming tone. "I can save them all. I can make the thieves go away. I can give you power beyond your imagination. Join with me."

"You're...Scion..." Rex breathed.

"Very good" it replied in its real voice, a raspy tone that sounded like two stones rubbing together. "Now, do you want to live? Do you want to defeat them? Do you want to save your parents?"

The last line struck a chord, and Scion knew it.

"Yes...your parents. They'll die without me. Unleash me. Stop holding back. I can save them all."

Rex gave into the demon's pleads. He stopped thinking, stopped resisting death and the demon, he even stopped breathing. Then he rose with glowing red eyes.

"Yesss..." the demon hissed in delight. He then grew into his demonic form. The thieves ran in fear, but each of them was chased down and ripped apart, supplementing the demon with more power. He burnt everything around him. After just a few minutes, not a living thing stirred. The demon was finally free to walk again. He first used his demonic powers to create armor for himself.

After a few years of destroying towns and villages, a powerful priest confronted the demon. After a huge battle, he attempted to seal the demon away forever. But instead of being sent to the underworld, Scion changed back into Rex. The priest was astounded, and cared for him until he was healthy again. When he was well, the priest explained all that had happened.

Rex was astounded, and immediately went back to his village. All he found was charred land and corpses. As he sifted though everything, he found Eliendel in the clutches of a dead body. As he gazed into its eyes, he knew that it was his father. He had managed to free the blade from the thieves. But Rex had killed him. He searched around the charred bodies and tried to see any hints of the rest of his family. He never managed to find the bodies of his mother and sister, but he had no hope for them.

"I thought you said you would save them!" he yelled at the sky.

"I did. Life is suffering. They were saved from it all."

"Where are you?!" Rex demanded.

"I am in you. Forever. Never forget that."

Rex left the place after burying every body and never returned. He wears the enchanted armor as a reminder of what he could become at any moment. Now he travels the world trying to do good wherever he can and hoping he never has to let Scion control him ever again. But he has other motives, too. He is always searching for the one thing that will bring him true happiness. (<-----HINT, HINT!!)

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

After traveling, Rex met up with a fallen angel named Mesfido and drove Scion out. The details are found in The War Within.

Algol
----------------------

Name: Algol ("Demon Star")

Age: 30

Race: Human

Height: 6' 3"

Weight: 230 lbs.

Eye Color: His left is red and his right is blue.

Weapon: A long halberd called "Demon Soul". Its handle is wooden and the staff is mostly taken up the size of the blade. It's almost like a huge sword, somewhat like Cloud's of FF VII. It is heavy, but he wields it quite easily.
Pic.

Armor: A light chain mail shirt that doesn't cover his arms. Instead he has silver gauntlets that cover his hands except for his fingers. He also has some heavy boots with steel bottoms and toes that cover his .

Strengths: His eyes are special. Obviously, they are of two different colors. His right is imbued with perfect vision and even a little above that to compensate for his other one. Thanks to the accident (see bio), Algol's left eye is blind to the normal spectrum. He can see almost every other with it, though. From elements, energy, and infrared to radio waves and the like (Yes, he can view the waves moving through the atmosphere, sorta like ultrasonic stuff; he'll notice when it bounces off objects). He can change through these different spectrums at a thought.

He is also skilled with his halberd. He's had it since he was reborn into a younger body, and has trained everyday with it. It is the only thing that can defeat the one who ruined his life.

Along with that he can use a little bit of magic. He has small elemental attacks he can use because of an amulet he wears. He cannot combine them, and he can only use one at a time, for the amulet can only hold one element.

He has the hidden ability to transform, but his spirit has not yet been released. So as of now, he is trapped being human.

Weaknesses: His blind eye gives him a distinct disadvantage. His depth perception is off as he hasn't trained in using both together. Usually he just wears an eye patch over the irregular one so it won't distract him. This is the same for when he uses the other eye. He moves the patch and the his perception is skewed the opposite way. There's also the fact that his red eye is very succeptible to being blinded. For example, an object that gets too hot while he's in infrared view will blind him and incapacitate him for a whlie.

Although he can use some magic, if his amulet is taken away he cannot. It is the only thing that allows him to do it. Also, he cannot use any elemental attack without the element already present. After he has absorbed an element, he is then succeptible to the element's opposite.

His halberd can also count as a weakness. Although he is proficient with it, it is still heavy. Even though he can wield it quickly for its size, his attacks are still quite slow. Any quick opponent can easily dodge his attacks. Also, once he starts an attack, he usually can't stop it. Both the weight of "Demon Soul" and his own boots slow him down considerably. Not only is he a slow attacker, he's an all-around slow mover.

His volatile personality is also a hindrance. He is easily angered and will often stop thinking while he's infuriated. Most battles he wins is by brute force alone. Although he is a good tactician, he rarely uses his mind.

Magic/Skills: His eyes could count as a skill. One sees normally, while the other views in the spectrums outside of the normal range.

He also has control over a few elemental spells. The element must be in the immediate area for him to absorb and then use it. In order to cast a spell he must first gather it from around him and concentrate it in the amulet. After that's done he has to concentrate again to use it in the spell he wishes. The spells' strength depends on how much of the element Algol has absorbed and how much of his own energy he puts into it. The stronger the element is around him, the less energy he has to use unless he wants an extremely powerful attack. With the darkness spells, he can use his own energies entirely for those. He can absorb darkness within his soul. He still has to take the energy into the amulet, and it also takes more out of him than the other spells because he is using everything from himself instead of another external source. For the light spell to work he must absorb the goodness from those around him. It usually takes longer for this to work, especially if the target is unwilling, because he has to extract it from someone else. He can also manipulate whatever element that he's absorbed.

Fire Wall- A simple attack that creates a wall of fire that charges at the target. Its size varies on the amount of fire element, but with a reasonable amount of energy it is pretty hard to dodge around.

Tsunami- A water attack that envelops the enemy in a torrent of water, effectively drowning them if they stay in too long.

Ice Blast- If there is ice about, Algol can use it to create sharp shards that he launches at his opponent.

Earth Shield- Algol's defensive spell. It uses the earth absorbed into the amulet to create a wall of rock that can deflect most attacks.

Gust- Algol can use the wind element around him to push his lighter enemies around. He can also use this to increase his jumping ability so he can soar. If he gathers enough of it he can sustain himself in the air for a time.

Light Flash- If a light element is around, Algol can absorb it and release it in a blinding flash to disorient enemies. It has no effect on him as long as his regular eye is shielded.

Shadow Wave- This spell gathers the darkness from around Algol (or even the darkness from himself) and emits it in a scythe-like shape that can cut through most things.

Appearance: He hardly stands out in a crowd. His muscles are defined from the training using his halberd and constantly traveling with all the weight. He wears a cut-off t-shirt under his chainmail. "Demon Soul" is strapped to his back and hangs there when not being used. His boots are brown where there is no steel. They usually go up to just under his knee and effectively cover his shinwear. Dark green pants cover most of that to about the ankle.

His face is boyish and quite handsome. Unfortunately the perfection is marred because his left eye is scarred. He also shows little to no emotion other than anger. When he smiles, it is an evil grin that shows the true evil that hides inside.

Personality: Algol is usually very unsocial. He has violent tendancies and will kill at the slightest provocation. Due to these tendancies, he stays away from social situations he can avoid so he can stay unnoticed. So if he's not off in a corner by himself, he's probably in the middle of town slicing everyone's heads off. He never laughs or even smiles in joy. Because he stays away from people, he can often be awkward in everyday situations.

In a fight he can often be hot-headed. He is angered easily and becomes blinded by rage. He doesn't usually talk while he fights unless he needs information to find a way to defeat his foe, or he feels like he should scream out taunts and curses.

History: (Taken from The War Within. For optimal understanding, please read both Rex's bio and The War Within.)

The monk's body was like a drop in a pool of water. But this pool was teeming with the souls of the damned. Demons laughed, having their fun with the poor souls that inhabited the area. But as the body fell, they all looked up. Some launched themselves at it, tearing past each other in a mad attempt to gain freedom from the wretched abyss. But one stood out above all.

"This is my sacrifice. Any who take it away will feel my wrath."

The eyes of Puthis fell upon one demon in particular. He had seen it before. And it knew him well. He let out a scream, but he was far from any help. A claw reached up and wrenched the monk's soul from his body, leaving it for the same fate as all the others. The demon then touched the body, and disappeared. The descent slowed, then began to reverse. The body of Puthis erupted from the hole Celina had created as it sealed beneath it. In front of Scion's recently-killed body did the poor man fall.

Rising as if tied to a string by his neck, he slowly turned to face the downed demon. His eyes opened, casting a red light. When he looked upon the eyes of the corpse, it began to glow. It brightened in intesity until one would go blind by looking at it. But Puthis continued to stare. After a minute, the cadaver began shrinking. When it was the size of Puthis, it flew into his body. He slumped down on the ground for a moment, but stood up quickly.

"I liiive!" he roared in delight. All the lesser demons squealed in equal spirits, glad to have a master once more. "I once more have a physical connection to this plain! It is quite fitting, even." He laughed at the irony of his new body, and so did the followers.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

As a parting gift, the demonic angel that revived him handed him an amulet.

"Your soul is sealed. Until you break it, use this. It can gather the elements for you."

The new body was acceptable, but it was much too old. Scion knew he could not defeat his adveraries and claim his revenge if he continued on how he was. So he sought out one of his old friends.

Thelis was a demon of old, just as Scion was. They both escaped from the fires of hell as the new world was being created. Without Scion, Thelis never would have been able to escape. It was only fitting that he return a small favor.

"The Waters of Youth?" Thelis screeched. "It is my own personal spring. Why do you need it?"

"I told you before" Scion said in the old monk's voice, "this body will not do. I need something stronger for my plans. I need revenge."

"I can't just give this to you. You must do something in return."

"It is not I who need to give you something. I can send you back to hell if you'd like." The threat fell on deaf ears.

"You have no power in that body. Don't kid me."

"I kid you not." He held out his hand, and it resonated with a bright light. "Now, go back to hell!"

"I'll do it!" Thelis screamed, frightened beyond his wits. "Don't banish me!"

Scion lowered his hand. The light element within his palm disappeared back into the amulet. His ruse had worked. Moving quickly, he entered the cave and bathed for a day and a half, being waited on by those lesser demons that served Thelis. When he finally emerged, his body had been transformed. No longer was the monk's body old, but instead it looked like that of a healthy youth. Spying a large weapon on the wall, he immediately moved over to it.

"That is mine!" Thelis roared. "You come here and do all this to me, yet still you want more? I've had enough, go away from here." Smiling with evil intent, Scion released the light he had been holding while Thelis was blind. He swiped around wildly in an attempt to kill the mortal body that his old friend inhabited. He caught him, but only his eye. "No! My Demon Soul!" the demon roared as he heard Scion dash into the surrounding area. So Scion named it.

His eye was useless. For a while it could see nothing. But soon Scion's locked demonic powers healed it their own way. It was still blind, but it could see in new ways. He quickly mastered this new sight, but never bothered to use them in unison.

He needed a new name. Thinking back into the "old language," he thought of the perfect one. Translating it into english, he whispered it to himself. "Algol." He was the demon star.

Now he searches for the one who destroyed him. The one named Rex. Imbued with demonic power, "Demon Soul" would be able to counteract the effects of the boy's own sword. No longer would the one he had once haunted have that mystical advantage over him. His blood oath would be completed, one way or another.

Emily
----------------------

Name: Emily

Age: 15

Race: Human.

Sex: Female

Hair: Long, flowing, straight black hair usually tied back into a ponytail.

Eyes: Piercing brown eyes. Uncanny for one so young.

Weight: 110 pounds

Height: 5’2"

Weapon: A brown wooden staff said to be imbued with magical energies. It’s tip is curled into a swirl and it is smoothed all along the outside. It’s most of Emily’s height and she stores it on her back whenever she doesn’t have it out. It’s not much of a physical weapon, though.

Armor: A blue robe with defensive properties against magic. It flows down to her feet and goes over whatever she’s wearing. On the back is a large character in an ancient language that translates to "Protect."

Strengths: Emily’s main strength is her magical abilities. She has both healing and defensive magics, but only a few offensive ones. Due to her lightness, she’s also quite quick and agile.

Weakness: She has weak physical defenses and no armor. She’s also not an offensive person and hardly trained in any fighting. She’s inexperienced in battle and easily trusting. Some would call it being gullible.

Skills/Magic:
Healing magic:
"Aspris" - Heals minor wounds. Cuts, scrapes, small gashes, the like. Only expends a small amount of energy.

"Maxpris" - Heals major wounds. Cannot revive after death, but can sometimes heal mortal woundings. Takes most of Emily’s energy. She an only use it twice a day, or once every twelve hours. She needs the rest of the time to regain her power.

"Revino" - Some call it necromancy. But it is nothing like it. Emily uses some of her own life force to reanimate a recently deceased corpse. And by recently, I mean in a few minutes. It’s highly dangerous and could easily kill her depending on how long it’s been. The longer the person has been dead, the more life force she must use to bring them back.

"Disprata" - Using her magical energies she can extract a demon who is possessing someone. Depending on the strength of the demon, she may have to use more energy. Actually, she can use this spell to extract a demon from most anything.

Defensive magic:

"Fire Dome" - Just what it says. Creates a protective dome of burning flames. Emily can control the size of the dome and intensity of the flames.

"Earth Skin" - Creates a protective barrier of earth around Emily that conforms to her body. It moves with her, as if it’s another layer of skin. She can control how thick the earth layer is. The thicker it is, the slower she moves.

"Refthrin/Refthra" - Creates an unseen magical barrier around Emily that absorbs or reflects magical attacks, depending on the spell she calls out. When the barrier absorbs, the energies go directly to Emily.

Offensive magic:

"Thundra" - Thunder element. A blast of electrical/magical energy. Depending on the power Emily uses it can fry a person or give them a small shock.

"Balsah" - Fires a ball of magical energy. Emily can change the size of it depending on how much energy she uses

She also has the uncanny ability to contact the dead. It seems to be connected to her immense losses at a young age, and the close ties with death and dying she has as a healer.

Appearance: Emily is a bit on the small side, but most of her slender figure is hidden by the loose-fitting clothes she wears. Unlike her brother, she is able to hide her emotions in all of her face except her eyes. But just like him, she’s often wearing a smile that can brighten up a room. Her eyes are constantly shining with an inner glow that can enrapture most people. But they also have a cold stare that can freeze the toughest of men.

Personality: Normally carefree, she will quickly sober up when she talks of her past. And that’s why she’s usually quiet. Though she will talk when approached, she doesn’t usually like starting conversations. She’s not cold, just distant. She’s also quite deep for someone her age. Because of her reserved nature, she’s a deep thinker.

While fighting she’ll stand up to most people, even if she knows she’ll lose. She tries to be brave like her mother, and will stare down whoever insults her or her loved ones. What she lacks in physical strength, she makes up in ferocity. Sometimes that alone is enough to get her through a battle. Sometimes she just falls into fighting, acting only on instinct. Afterwards she won’t remember much.

Biography: "Daddy! Rex! Mommy, where are they?"

"They’ll be fine. I promise. Just stay with me and everything will be fine."

"But what about our house? The dogs?"

"It’s not safe here, Emily! We need to go into the mountains. Please, just stay close."

"Yes, mommy."

Hands clasped in a tight hold, they rushed through the small village, passing by neighbors. Some rushed to the battle, others fled in the same direction as Emily and her mother. Sometimes one of the thieves would appear and terrorize the women and children, but a fighter from the village would quickly come in and engage the stranger in battle. Onward they ran, until it was just the two: Mother and child. They entered the woods, moving constantly onwards towards the mountains. After miles of running, Emily’s mother finally stopped. Panting heavily, she held her child in her arms.

"Emily. You need to be strong. For me, and for daddy, and for Rex." Emily perked up at her brother’s name.

"Okay mommy."

Onward they ran, until they reached a small break in the trees. Looking back, Emily saw smoke rising from the town.

"Oh no…" her mother whispered. "He’s changed." Grabbing Emily’s hand a bit roughly, she kept the young girl moving.

After months on the road, Emily’s mother collapsed on the steps of a monastery. The monks there took her in, caring for her and Emily the best they could. Unfortunately Emily’s mother died soon after. The kindly monks of the monastery took Emily in as one of their own, raising her and teaching her the ways of magic.

When she turned fifteen they entrusted her with an ancient staff. They told her to use it to channel her magical energies.

"Where should I go?" she asked. The head monk, Poriah, answered her.

"Your brother is alive and well."

"Rex?! How do you know?"

"Our brothers in another monastery have found him. They held him there as he healed his wounds. Scion is still within him, though. Go, and find him. You can help him."

Emily set off with a goal firmly in mind. She would find her brother. And she would do whatever it took to free him of his curse.
