As if Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles didn't suck enough already...

It has just been announced that Wi-Fi support for FFCC DS is not planned.

Quote:
In the multiplayer mode, up to four people can play together over a local wireless network. Sadly Wi-Fi Connection support is not planned, the developers saying they "would like friends to play and communicate together in person, seeing the smiles on each others' faces."
I'd say that's a bad move. There were only two occasions where I played the original FFCC on mutiplayer, simply because it's such a hassle to get two or more other people who like Final Fantasy and own Game Boy Advances with link cables over to my house to play the game. Luckily I only bought it for $15.99 so the lack of multiplayer play and the poor single-player gameplay wasn't too much of a disappointment.

I really have no reason to buy this game now. If it had been playable with Wi-Fi, then there would have been plenty of people I would have been willing to play it with. Not anymore, though.

The only way I can see this game meriting a purchase is if its story doesn't completely blow and if single-player isn't a waste of time like the first one.

Well, this is interesting. IGN's article makes it out as if Wifi-play was still a possibility, and that there could be different uses of it than simply battling together.

Eh, doesn't make much difference. Right now I'm most happy to hear how they've changed some of the gameplay. I liked the original, but there were a bunch of things in the execution that kind of bogged down the overall concept. If this one's more polished and less tedious, I may grab it.

Now, to see how they'll handle Crystal Bearers...

I love CC, and have been excited since Square-Enix for told us that it would be coming to DS (a while before DS even came out). The lack of Wi-fi doesn't bother me one bit. I'm more interested in the wireless connectivity between friends. Hopefully, as in most DS games, multiplayer can be had with only one cartridge.

Dang, I was hoping they would have Wi-Fi on this one...oh well. From what the article says, it looks like they've taken some good steps, they got rid of the cage and they added a better story to the single player. It doesn't look like it will be a total disaster but online compatibility would probably make this title even better.

Eh, I don't see an issue, rather then needing to find 2-4 GBAs and 2-4 Link cables, you simply need to find 2-4 DS owners with this game, which should be much easier.

And here come the threads saying how much Crystal chronicles sucks.

Honestly, I would much rather play with my friends, sitting down right next to each other as we laugh and do ****. But I think over the internet might cause trouble, cause voice chat would be necessary and that can get a little uncomfortable.

That is an excellent point, and is probably the main reason why Ring of Fates won't have Wi-fi. But like I said earlier, I hope you could play with multiple DS's and only one game cartridge. That would rock.
