Re: Math question

It's 4 mouths to feed and 8 feet because there are only 4 people on the ship

Re: Math question

The question isn't how many mouths and how many feet there are on the ship. The question is how many mouths and feet there are. The term "has" is also ambiguous in this case.

4 men = 8 feet
4 women = 8 feet
8 children = 16 feet
24 cats = 96 feet
120 kittens = 480 feet

Therefore 160 mouths, 608 feet.

Dagger is the winner.

Re: Math question

Ain't this forum supposed to tutor people with actual math problems? If redlink2 already knew the answer, what is the purpose of the thread?

Re: Math question

To keep things interesting and to exercise your math skills. As long as it's not totally off subject (to my discretion) I will allow these kinds of posts. This goes for all of the TOK forums.

Re: Math question

No need to be locked unless this gets out of hand in some way, it'll fade away by itself.

Re: Math question

This is derived from one of the most famous riddles ever written
"As I was walking to St. Ives, I met and man with 7 wives, every wife had 7 sacks, every sack hat 7 cats, every cat had 7 kits. Men wives sacks, cats and kits, how many were walking to St. Ives"
The answer is 1, me. It never said the man with 7 wives was going to St. Ives
