Then again, the Princesses we see in the games are probably not the only princesses to have ever existed in Zelda mythos. It's possible that all the Princesses of Destiny would be (destined to be) named Zelda, and from this one on they were all named Zelda in mourning of the curse on the Sleeping Princess.
